Nope. It's an old install though, I upgraded from Pro to Enterprise when the first Creators Update released, then started getting other updates and upgrades via WU. All ISOs I used untouched from MS itself. And I'm using final version of KMSPico for ages, even though I don't think it is related to the issue.
My friend also doesn't use any 3rd party AV, only Windows Defender up-to-date and no KB4056892 in Windows Update so far. Guess he still needs to set the reg manually.
But he should have got it by now, right? Thing is, until now, nothing has popped on WU, still on 16299.125 with Defender definitions up-to-date. I don't know if the key is already on the registry though, need to ask him later
did he blocking stuff like telemetry? delete service also other.. I experience once in 16299.64 not update in wu after blocking some telemetry, service delete(telemetry) and set telemetry to 0
On the test rig (2) the copy of RS3 WU wouldn't find CU (KB4056892) so I googled & found the MS catalogue/update w/ the KB#. I DL & it installed w/o any hiccups Now OS Build 16299.192 Edit: I just used the same .msu file on the other test rig (1) & it worked there too.
Like I said before I disabled some Telemetry with Win10Privacy before Creator Updates. I checked with the new version and they are still intact. However, AllowTelemetry is 1 under DataCollection in Registry, Besides, I'm not like getting no updates, updates are working, it's the Meltdown and Spectre updates are not working for some reason. Running Windows Update Troubleshooter found Windows Update Database Corruption and fixed it however rerunning the Troubleshooter keeps finding the same error so I applied commands below and I got these messages below: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. No component store corruption detected sfc /scannow DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /scanhealth DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth The updates installed after FCU are: Quality: KB4041994 KB4049179 (2) KB4051613 (2) KB4048951 (2) KB4048955 (Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems) (1) KB4054517 (Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems) KB4053577 (2) KB4058043 KB4056887 (2) 1. This one is strange. I have intel but WU installed an update for amd64-based sys? 2. These are Security Update for Adobe Flash Player Other: KB890830 Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windiws 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016 x64 Edition - January 2018 KB890830 Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windiws 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016 x64 Edition - December 2017 KB890830 Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windiws Insider Preview and Server Technical Preview x64 - November 2017 It seems I have no other option to manually installing Meltdown and Spectre updates.
AFAIK Win10Privacy Recommended settings are safe to use and it doesn't delete anything. So this doesn't count as "tinker". Besides, I installed 3 upgrades after it such as Version 1607 (Anniversary Update), Version 1703 (Creators Update) and Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) and had no issues with updates so far.
Tinkered, modified, call it what you want, this is no normal update anymore, previous updates didn't need special user actions like a specific regkey set too.
All I did was using Hosts file block for MS servers that are detected as Telemetry and adding Firewall rules for other Telemetry services. Doing so cannot be considered as altering/modifying -or your fancy word- tinkering the system files. However, I removed those MS servers from Hosts file and removed firewall rules and clicked Check for updates. Boom! 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892) Status: Downloading - 99% Really strange but it worked. So, thank you!
My OS Build is 16299.192 now but I still don't see the other update 2018-01 Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4058702). Any idea?
