I probably never noticed because I never touch the internet until updates and drivers are set manually. I even download the latest MSRT and defender updates on a 2nd machine while windows is installing. I like hitting WU for the first time ever and seeing nothing offered.

Same here bro. This is normal behavior for Enterprise SKU's and I guess now on Home SKU's. I just enter a bunk email address once and it offers the local account creation.

I read on twitter you will be offered a local account if you do not have an internet connection

Feel free to use local storage. Signing in to Windows with a Microsoft Account doesn't automatically copy all of your storage to Microsoft. It only syncs some settings, and offers to keep copies of your Documents in OneDrive. Also, the GDPR is an actual documented, on-paper thing. If this new process runs afoul of the GDPR, MS will be required to fix it. If it doesn't run afoul of GDPR, which I assume it won't, another governing body has already dealt with the concern for you.

I haven't seen this Offline Account option taken off machines personally yet, but since I use an unattend.xml that forces the offline account creation anyway, I don't know if I ever will!

Do you know of any VL capable product forcing users to use an online msft account?;)

that has always worked for me and still does, but when you sign in to the Microsoft Store later, make sure that you don't just keep hitting next after entering the password, you will get a prompt on the left hand side saying "Sign in to Microsoft Apps only" otherwise Windows will convert your account to an online account if you miss that step.

Then how would enterprise have ever forced you?

I think this discussion about something i accidentally discovered is going in circles.

If you don't install Home or Home SL, you won't even notice it;):D

When did I ever state that I was forced to use an MSA? Never! Not once! And my shiney HWID activation isn't tied to an MS account or even this machine. The only way to get an HWID on Enterprise is by using a certain thing that can not be named made a person that is no longer a s1ave to this forum. ;)

And furthermore, why on Earth did you like the comment I initially quoted but then went on to explain in detail why I was wrong when all I did was affirm said quoted posts assertions? Hmmm. Shenanigans!!!!

    This lead me to that:
I see the restricted part is about both options.

I get confused when having to post things over and over;) My apologies.

It shouldn't even have needed more posts after the fix offered by @whatever127 :)

    what post did i like?

ps, s1ave77 only made the exe, didn't create HWID gen tech behind it.

No worries my man. Conversations online can easily go astray, especially when one person is doing their best to converse in a non-native tongue. :) And ultimately, all you need to do is not connect to the internet during the OOBE to get a local account. No "fixes" required. Fact is, the media loves controversy, even if it is essentially a nonissue. And regardless who developed the HWID method, discussion of it and the tools required isn't allowed. Anyway, carry on my friend!

which is especially critical when you use the built-in administrator account, as that account will then be converted to an online account too, without the possibility of reverting this.
