It is legit and activated, it is upgraded from Windows 8, which is retail copy.

It doesn't get to the reboot stage, it gets to 100% on the windows update page and then fails before where I assume it will reboot at the end.

 

Dit you run diagnostics on WU ?

 

Yes, it found nothing wrong.. also tried Sfc /scannow

Then I thought maybe it was because I had disabled cortana, so I re-enabled it and it still failed to install.

Not sure what else to do other than install windows again.

 

Inplace upgrade to the same build and try again for WU maybe ? could solve the culprit

Try deleting the contents of the SoftwareDistrobution directory.

Open an elevated Command Prompt and enter...

Code:

net stop wuauserv

Then...

Code:

net stop bits

Then navigate to C:\Windows\SofwareDistrobution and delete its contents.

When done, in an elevated Command Prompt enter the following...

Code:

net start wuauserv

Then...

Code:

net start bits

When done, restart your computer and try updating again.

Never mind, I see you fixed it. But keep these instructions in mind for the 0x800f0982 error in the future.

 

There might be an incompatibility between Intel's 21.70.0.6 wireless network driver and 1909.

Prior to updating to 21.70.0.6 I had no issues but after I can still connect without issue but the tray indicates that I am disconnected and network settings says that I have no internet connection.

 

Is there a way to get the build string (e. g. 17763.rs5_release.180914-1434) of an offline image.
I tried OfflineRegistryView by NirSoft, but it shows the same whether the image is updated or not.

either check iso\sources\setuphost.exe, or updateagent.dll from servicingstack folder

 

What do you mean by "not conclusive"?
Is it the same time for every build? Thats what I need if its the same.
