I have an eye for a detail. I spotted this bug since the transparency was introduced. I am currently in 1903 and with 20H1 nearly at release, I will update directly to that version instead going through the procedure twice. So, no particular reason. I just want consistent transparency and fluid animations.

    You do know that 1909 = 1903 + 20KB update?

Oh I see. I thought it was a major one. Still, I'm on 18362.30, gonna wait for 19041 public release, they might also fix the defrag UI bug.

You run the first release of 1903 and complain about bugs? Maybe install the latest CU and most bugs will be gone.

The transition bug is present in all 18362/3 builds. I don't know what defrag UI bug he is talking about though.

You don't see the snapping transition from dark to light when opening the action center? Do you need glasses? I wouldn't call it a showstopper type of an issue by any means. It certainly didn't stop me from using 1903 from the beginning, but I could see how it might bother some people. And obviously MS didn't care for it either as they fixed it in later IP releases.

And after backtracking in the 19041 thread I see that the defrag/optimize bug is not remembering device states after a reboot. I however am not experiencing that issue.

I don't notice it and i told it never can be a showstopper because technically all works fine.

+ the pictures in the post

Nobody said it was about something not working. It's an aesthetic cosmetic issue. It's less pronounced when using dark mode, but man is it jarring in light mode.

I'm with @bfoos on this one.

Light Theme was quite a sales pitch for 19H1 if you remember all those tweets and blogs.
For it to be so utterly broken with transparency on is baffling! Specially when Microsoft brags about every little s**tty unimportant sub details as changing a f**king app icon..
People should be outraged it hasn't been fixed two years later.

And it can get quite annoying when it comes to Action Center, already a nuisance in itself since you're pushed to access it often.
So you have to either use the Light Theme without transparency (bleah) or use Dark Theme - there goes the sales pitch out of the window!

I always considered the light theme a failure and blinding nonsense, but i am not going to call any of those futile (imo) bugs a showstopper or a reason to not run it (like @Wetryshka posted, the original peer in this discussion), 17763.1 had real bugs and 19041 still has one or two too)

It has it's niche use on tablets or even large screens in sunlight, but I do agree with the failure and blinding nonsense otherwise :)
Still not excusable to not work as advertised two motherf**king years later. Windows as a service my arse. How hard is to backport these small things? Not at all. But they have to gatekeep small bugs to force you update each year...

I've got the expression that Microsoft don't care at all about the UI elegance. Take this for example: If you are using Dark mode, press Properties on This PC and you'll see what a catastrophe the UI consistency is. At this rate, by 2025 it should be fixed.

Microsoft has a new head of Windows & a new head of the Insider Program. Both have a background in UI Development They have already shown off a revised Start Menu & are responsible for the new Fluent Design Icons. So we will see.
