Greetings from Lima, Peru!!! I am trying to help a friend who lives in a remote area of the city with a very slow internet connection. She is currently running Windows 10 Home Single Language (ES - MX) version 1909 build 18363.1500 and since end of may/june WU has tried to upgrade to 20H2 several times without success. Using remote access I have tried to do an in place upgrade using 20H2 and 21H1 UUPDUMP isos and both only offer to install keeping Personal Files only and option to keep Personal Files and Apps is greyed out. The idea is to try to keep both Personal Files and Apps because of the very slow internet access. Also tried to update manually to 18363.1766 manually using DISM commands and the update cabs appeared to install successfully but after restart the build stayed at 18363.1500 Have tried to use WU troubleshooting that appeared to fix a couple of errors and also tried DISM CheckHealth/ScanHealth/RestoreHealth that found no errors but in place upgrades again only offered to keep Personal Files. Any ideas or suggestions to try to sort this out would be highly appreciated ! With thanks in advance, JCC2
Please notice that if you have chosen to upgrade Windows 10 using a different language than you are currently using, you will not be offered to keep Files and Apps. Try upgrading in smaller jumps. However, the issue of upgrading from 18363.1500 to 18363.1766 indicates that this may not solve the problem.
Many thanks for your answer.... It would appear to be that there is something wrong with the language settings/configuration. At first my friend said the language was ES -ES and when tried to apply LCU to 18363.1766 it failed indicating language mismatch. My friend remembered laptop originally came with EN - US but it was changed to spanish. I tried the manual update to 1766 with EN - US it also failed. Then tried ES - MX and it finally it appeared to install successfully but it finally failed as well. I will give it a couple more tries before giving up and doing a clean install although this will be a pain in the **tt because of the slow internet connection. JCC2
Afaik, 18362/3 HomeSL is not supported anymore, upgrade to any supported build of 20H1/2 / 21H1/2. Make sure the iso used for upgrading contains HomeSL SKU in the same es-MX language.
Thanks for the suggestion... Download EN US iso now. Lt's hope for the best Enthousiast I am downloading 19041.1202 iso from UUPDUMP. This will be last try. If it doesn't work will go for clean install. Thanks to both again! JCC2
It worked.... After a long wait to download ISO from UUPDUMP and re-configuring language to EN - US the upgrade worked without a hitch and Laptop is now at 19041.1202 Once again, MANY THANKS for your help and keep up with the good work!!!! JCC2
