Yeah, when you put it that way, it seems much more plausible. Forgot about the Xbox eco system running windows 10. But 1 Billion? Doesn't that pretty much mean every device on the planet, including every Android, every iDevice, and everybody running previous versions of Windows? Practically everything with a processor? lol I know an equal amount of people who tell me nothing on this planet will get them to leave Windows 7. One of them, my Father says he will retire his computer for good once Windows 7 loses support. My buddy Greg, says the same thing. Surely, these guys are not alone, if I know quite a few who do not want it, then surely there must be a HUGE amount of people who feel the same way. So, again, 3 years to turn everyone's thinking around? Because FREE don't mean squat any more. They will have to pay money to get my father to move away from 7, and probably a LOT of it. lol EDIT: In order to be successful on the 1 Billion front, I think they will need to become much more aggressive with prosecuting illegal copies of Windows, and reduce the support schedule of 7 down to 3 years or less. That is the ONLY way I see it happening. I also think all old school browsers need to stop supporting older versions of Windows for them to have any hope. THAT was the ONLY reason my neighbor Shelby had me build a new computer for her, because her browser of choice was no longer supported on XP. Otherwise she would have never spent a penny on a new system... lol
LOL, I wish we could start a bet to see who gets closer to the actual number of devices running 10 in 3 years. I say 500 million devices tops, and the other 500 million will be acquired by Linux...
I wish we could have more columns in the Full Start Screen mode, there's much wasted space with only 2 columns available. Icons are looking nicer (from the 10125 caps).
Monochrome icons for Windows Apps on Windows 10: - Open Registry Editor (Search for regedit.exe) - Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced - Create DWORD (32-bit): ImmersiveIconBackgroundSize with value "0" - Restart Explorer or Restart
I have been just upgrading my current version rather than clean installing for the last 4 new builds. It seems to me that clean install makes really big difference. Sometimes I just make clean install in my VM in order to see difference. Hopefully, they will release a major version sooner. I hate laggy Windows 10
A clean install is always a good idea if it's possible. Fresh registry, drivers, etc.. Also it takes less physical space on your drive, which is very useful if your using HDDs since the read time will be quicker.
In Win 10 you can adjust how long your second Hard Drive spins, in control panel, select Power Options, select Change how long computer sleeps, then select, Change advanced power settings, have fun, be careful, I have my second hard drive set to sleep after 20 min of no use, I don't want it spinning all night, saves you from having to buy HD all the time, it's a little slower when you need something off that drive, but it's cool. Its the same in Win 8.1 You may have to reboot, don't know
sfc /scannow only detects problem in current installation right? Dism without the install.wim media can repair it? How if it cannot use the origical isntall .wim provided whithin the installation.iso ?
I don't know, but it does, I run SFC and it finds error, then I run DISM, no media, then run sfc again, fixed I guess when you install OS from ISO it copies the files somewhere for future use?
