My OS is dual booted with Win 10 on SSD, but my other HD is normal. I would like to know where you heard that too.
Now this is interesting because I thought that I was the only one who had experienced this exact same issue. For me, it was several builds ago. Exact same errors as well. I wasted nearly 6 hours that day and was about to lose my mind. I tried everything. I even tried to create another MS email, signed up to Insider program with new account. Installed build again with fresh, brand new MS account. And guess what? Same errors about email already being used. Kinda scary when you factor in how much they are trying to push these MS accounts to use Win10. And having "temporary" server issues like that denying you from using your own computer. Anyway, I ended up having to log into web-based OneDrive and go to section where it shows connected devices based on Computer name. There were 3-4 listings for the same Computer name from previous build installs. I had to disassociate each device (yet all same name) and remarkably that resolved the problem that wasted 6 hours for me and 8 or so hours for you. It makes absolutely no sense. And it concerns me that it's still happening with this build, which makes me worry that the problem isn't build specific, but more likely random server glitches at Microsoft. I worry about this more agressive shift toward MS accounts in Win10. It makes security more difficult as well as far as LUA (Standard) accounts go. I don't want to have to manage several email addresses just to use my operating system. They are going to have more users running Admin accounts for daily use.
well MS surface pro 3 all come with SSD......yes u can use a regular 5400 or 7200 rpm but is older tech.....not the same high performance.
Hunk_4TH In Win 10 you can adjust how long your second Hard Drive spins, in control panel, select Power Options, select Change how long computer sleeps, then select, Change advanced power settings, have fun, be careful, I have my second hard drive set to sleep after 20 min of no use, I don't want it spinning all night, saves you from having to buy HD all the time, it's a little slower when you need something off that drive, but it's cool. Its the same in Win 8.1 You may have to reboot, don't know
It is NOT meant for SSD over HDD. Magnetic based platter drives will be here for a very long time, probably another 10 years or so. So, until NVMe becomes the norm and NTFS is replaced with a filing system designed specifically for solid state, such as F2FS, you can never say a OS is designed for one over the other. Windows 10 will just be "More SSD Friendly" as it will have to support NVMe and PCIe SSD's out of the box, thus making it designed better for Solid State. Both AHCI/RAID and NTFS were designed specifically for spinning high-latency hard drives in mind, and that is what 99.99% of you guys are using. Windows 10 is just a tad bit more SSD friendly, that's all.
u make a valid point....but have u ever bench tested magnetic vs SSD side by side...i have and performance difference is like day and night....yes their still expensive and small in size, but their getting better in capacity and pri$$e...so if u can afford it... run SSD u will get bang for your buck....i cant say that about spinning drives that are now 20 year old tech.....dont forget moores law
