i use avast because it sandboxs all unknown apps and has a boot up scan which is super helpful also malware bytes does so much if it see a unknown ip trying to get into your pc it shuts it down fast
Let's not overlook the importance of Windows Defender. It updates itself regularly and serves its purpose very well. If it detected any virus, malware, etc it'll notify you or something it cannot delete immediate. You would have to review the detected malicious software and do the needful.
signature of malicious file is enough to be detected but many times you get a false positive which mostly comes from s**tty AV crap
On my machine, Windows Defender gets disabled, NOD32 gets installed, job done Plenty of dodge sites and dodge files that NOD32 has stopped, where Windows Defender just sat back chewing a piece of straw looking blankly out to sea.... chewing..... chewing.... straw... NOD32 was like "WWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I trust NOD32 too, and it is the least intrusive of those I tested although in W10, I'm using Defender
Until right now and AFAIK, Defender could not be disabled 100%, it will still run a little bit all times. It could not be uninstalled either! You could stop most of it's services but all! And as long as it even runs partly, it will have some effects on 3.party AV Apps etc. and even maybe slows down the whole system. Not sure MS will change that in the RTM and final release, I don't think so! Personally I wouldn't run any 3.party AV Apps and didn't do that for years already with very, very little problems. In my Office I use Smoothwall and didn't had any infection for several years already! Defender is locked down as much as possible there as well as the Windows Firewall is turned off fully, That work is taken over by Smoothwall which act's like an extended Hardware Firewall with build in AV Apps. At my home I didn't need that at all. And even my home computers, I didn't use 3.party AV Apps just download once a month the latest version of CureIT and run it, that's all I do and that's much enough! Don't be paranoid about AV! And keep in mind: at the same moment you update to the latest AV and their Database, that's already old!!
And Defender still run to some extend!! The turn off isn't mean that Defender is stopped, it just stops for to check incoming traffic but all!
