MS sent me a e-mail saying no matter what you do, you will never activate the RTM or the Final Release (GA) unless in public, you be sweet to them by bending over, grabbing them ankles, and bracing yourself, lol
I know it's a joke, but actually people doesn't have to worry about win10 activation, even if you couldn't do that, simply stay in Insider program, you will always be able to update to the newest released builds, legit activated, the only catch is you have to live with a time-bomb and a preview water-mark.
I don't see that's their any difference, Insiders and regular folks have to have OEM or valid key code, I believe M$shaft said free to Insiders, we all jumped, like they knew we would, did their work for them, sending feedback about all the errors, while they sipped wine, and then tell us it free, IF. I feel I been had, RAPED, and I feel sorry for all the Insiders who thought they would get free copy, no strings attached, in the end, what they got was SHAFTED
i am donwloading as right now, and are reading that this is the "core" version..i have always used enterprise versions..is here any enterprise test keys that can be used?
Without OEM or valid key code, yes you can keep it for a year without activating, and guess what, everyone here will be searching extra hard for a cure, which they will find, because we been SHAFED.
what are you talking about,it's free if you download and install in the first year, then you have it for free for the life of the machine, that's if you have legit windows 7,8,8.1.and they did say legitimate windows license.
In a way MS was correct for saying "free", because for win8.1 and before, you couldn't get a RTM image direct from MS without paying something, either thru buying a retail box or a OEM machine, or being in MSDN or as vol client, etc, etc.
I think win 10 will only be good after the first update like windows 8 -> 8.1, It feels so unfinished still and don't think 1-2 months is enough time.
Clean Install, I'm booting on VHDX and cannot upgrade... My battery is empty within less than 2 hours with this build. I'm using a MacBook Pro 15" with Retina (using Boot Camp and boot from vhdx because I have my Windows 8.1 U1 vhdx that's fully operational and it's my everyday work computer). I usually had around 5 to 6 hours of use with other builds. They are configured exactly the same way.. Hyper-V activated and Boot Camp drivers version 5.1.5621 + Windows 10 NVidia drivers (it's been available for less than 2 or 3 weeks). I usually use Wifi and sometimes LAN. I install SCCM 2012 R2 agent (recently updated my SCCM environment to SCCM 2012 R2 SP1. The agent is Windows 10 compatible now Thanks MS) My apps are always the same so there's nothing exceptional in this config. I hope there will be a new official build soon...
I think the same. Redstone updates coming in this fall & early next year, will add new features (rumors saying interactive tiles etc.) & will fix other broken stuff.
Yeah especially the whole settings/control panel thing. It feels so messy with some setting here and others there and then clicking one will send you to the other type. I do hope they can unify the control panel and settings by 10.1
Yep, Settings app is a huge mess. Control Panel is much better. They should update the CP with new settings, instead of the featureless Settings app.
Settings app can be good, i can see it's potential, they just need to move everything to it. Once thats done, they can then work on improving the way it operates. I like the way it works rather than opening new windows all the time as per control panel. Also needs a huge amount of colour and design. maybe like those accents they had on the windows 8.1 start menu
Is it presumable Microsoft will turn of all tracking by default when finishing Windows 10 due to privacy? Unexperienced users are definetely not aware of the fact that by default apps are allowed to capture keyboard input, use your camera, your position, your microphone, send info about used software, geolocationprofiles and so on! What do you expect?
