Aside the idiotic WMC removal, I couldn't be happier. Finally MS fixed the problems with the bridged networks of VMware and Virtualbox (no more workaround needed), and also with the contextual menu of Classic Shell
Is there something like EasyBCD from NeoSmart Technologies but free? Edit: Oh, I see, there's one for "Only for personal, non-commercial use"!
trying to download to 10130 from 10147 and getting this message all the time.. "you cant keep windows settings . personal files and apps because your current version of windows might be installed in a unsupported directory"
Clearly I started to before your addition to the message, wouldn't be any point in replying to an already replied question.
screw microsoft seems like Microsoft is backtracking and we won't get windows 10 for free , this sucks bad
The sucky thing about that is, if you had an activated Windows 7/8.1 Windows and upgraded to the Windows 10 preview, it seems the licence will only work if you did an inplace upgrade from 7/8.1 to 10. If you did a fresh install, the licence will no longer be registered since it didn't register the 7/8.1 to 10 activation transfer. Of course, now many people may not have their original Windows 7/8.1 licence, particularly those with OEM built computers. Basically, a great deal of people currently on the Windows 10 Insider programme may be stuck with an unlicenced Windows once Windows 10 is released. I believe this may be why they initially announced it as they did. It was probably the bean-counters that told them to backtrack on this. Spoiler 10152 for Tuesday... maybe.
It's their inability to clearly communicate what they mean in the first place. In this case, it's even more amusing because many tech blogs already reported about the free Windows 10 for Insiders, and this additional sentence still leaves room for speculation as it tells about upgrading to Windows 10 while the previous part is about the situation for people who clean installed a preview build without upgrading. Now you could interpret it like as long as you clean installed the preview, you're getting the final bits for free and remain activated, but upgrading requires a genuine 7/8.1 license in place (don't think that's what they mean). What a confusion.
Oh god, can't they make up their mind?! They can sit on their fence as long as they like, I hope updated community made solutions will make it irrelevant to me.
Rather odd problem with 10147 x86 on a Bay Trail tablet. Went to install it as with the previous builds via usb stick and getting a Recovery mode error that the BCD related files are corrupted when trying to boot the installer. All the hashes match perfectly, so... hmm. (There is nothing wrong with the actual tablet, 8.1 and 10130 boot just fine.) EDIT: Interesting. Appears the bcd file in the iso for both x64 and x86 itself is quite possibly damaged. 16kb vs the 256kb in 10130, and indeed in every prior build. So, do we all have a damaged copy of 10147..?
See Gabe's comments on Twitter dated June 19th to @LuisC_13: "They can upgrade from a Win 7/8.1 system or from a system they clean installed with preview ISO as long as using registered MSA"
