No, they have not forgotten you, you are major operator in there Win 10 plan Your gonna help them find the bugs, lol They should give each and everyone of you a full free Retail copy of Win 10 I just tweeted Gabe to give people here at MDL a build or we will take his spoon. Really (Gabe-Soupanator)
Sorry if I am asking a silly question. I would like to try Windows 10 as I have a spare Core2Duo PC with 2Gb RAM. I found a torrent on a popular website "Windows 10 Home/pro Insider Preview Build 10147 En-us x86" (don't know if I can post link) and thinking of installing this. But it seems I have to install Win7 first and then 10 on top. Is this correct? It is a 32bit desktop, so is this the correct version? Should I install Win7, then activate and then install Win10? How about activation, how many days will this work for?
If you want to have Windows 10 via Windows 7 key: Wait till the RTM image arrives (I'm not sure how this actually works though, but I don't think you can really do much from preview builds; the general word is that you have to upgrade from an already-installed Windows 7 or 8.1 though) If you want Windows 10 via Insider Preview (free): Sign-up to be an Insider, download the latest preview image (10130 currently), and install directly (clean install recommended; upgrade from Win7 may work fine) I could be wrong though, so someone feel free to correct me on any of that.
Not really different from previous builds, but disabling UAC seems to really "break" things (I guess that's to be expected and only worsen in-time with everything moving to modern UI), so I guess there's no better time than now to learn how to live with it enabled. My usual setups involved using a Local Account, disabling UAC, and then removing all Modern UI apps on 8.1, along with neutering the OS pretty badly with (probably not-so-beneficial) tweaks. I've also "accepted MS into my life" (lol), and signed in with a MS account, along with using Express setup, and even enabled OneDrive (never used or really gave these things a chance past launch Windows 8)... so far the experience is relatively nice Now I have to figure out what tweaks I want to keep doing and whatnot. (didn't really think this deserved it's own thread; just some casual feedback)
Went this morning back to 10130 but had a weird graphics bug ! Now back on 10147 damn I wish they release a new build soon
In reality this is the same feeling that i have, today has happened a strange thing, the branch impressive was compiled after those marketplace and winmain, and by the time everyone else there is no trace Maybe they'll be finalizing the parties that still have problems (the store?), before release something new.
I'm normal an patient man but I got spoiled by the fast releases of windows builds with the insider program Damn i have to get a grip on myself haha
Guess there's nothing left to tell about 10147. I wonder why there doesn't exist a general discussion thread...
