So at some point all Modern UI apps lost the close/minimize/maximize buttons visually (they still work if I click the right spot). Any ideas what I can do to fix it?

    Restart Explorer, Logout-login, Restart...

    Doesn't work?

    Use Reset feature in settings.

I think, before Reset he can try the command : sfc /scannow

Tried all of that aside from reset feature; this happened after I uninstalled AMD's WU graphics driver and tried upgrading to 1040 (leaked beta driver). Seems both drivers show instability issues on my 7660G + 7670M laptop.

I'm hoping 15.6 gives better results.

The same happened to me when I set "Switchable Dynamic Graphics" to "Maximize performance" in Power options. Set back to "Optimize performance" and all buttons are back.

you need a genuine key to be able to upgrade to W10 then W7 must be activated, insider is for eval purpose until RTM is available. :)

That's true. But: about the latest infos about Windows 10 Insider, if an Insider will stay as that, he'll have Windows 10 all times free and get also updated with new build's.

Signing up as Insider and use MS released builds, will keep you on the Free Windows 10 channel as long as you like. Only limit is that the Insider User has to follow the Microsoft rules for Insider!

Using Windows 7 SP1 and/or Windows 8.1 as base for free upgrade to Windows 10, it's free with no new build's!

It's simply up to the user to chose what he/she would like!

Clone your Windows 8.1 first as kind backup, upgrade tol Windows 10 and if you didn't like or you're not fine with that, get back you 8.1! Or, if something didn't work, just do a clean install of Windows 10 again for to get rid of all old rubbish!

Maybe you should read the Windows Blog of Gabe Aul!!

    You have 2 choices:
    • Upgrade from Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 and have Windows 10 free with normal Updates supplied but new Builds
    • Sign in as Insider with your Microsoft Account and stay connected, you'll receive Updates AND New Builds as long as you be an insider, till you sign out as one!

All that is published on the Windows Blog of Gabriel Aul.

You only need a MS Account to receive Insider builds.

10147 has a lot of changes and features.
I hope it will be also in next build or RTM.

Thanks, that seems to do it.

I'm wondering if it also brings forth the instability I experienced; haven't noticed anything with 15.6.

Edit: Seems to have fixed my display adapter crashing too, awesome :)
