My Realtek isn't the latest and greatest no, but it's not very old either, 1.5 years old? The Realtek driver has only been updated like once or twice in the past 2 years. Most people complaining do seem to be limited to the same hardware version though with a couple others mixed in. Hopefully they get it fixed.
audio drivers will have some issues with windows 10, because it uses a new audio stack. optimized for improve latency, which in turn can cause drivers not to work properly.

All sound problems seems to be related to samplerate change in windows mixer. ASIO drivers seems to work fine. (Tested on Focusrite Scarlett 2i2)
I have ALC892 and one other I don't have the number handy. Neither one of them work. Go into sound settings and try changing the play back format and see if yours still works?
For me, it's not a preference thing. I am just collecting them for future use/need. It's unlikely that we'll ever need any of these, but certain mods/exploits sometimes use files from previous Windows builds.
