I have one partition but use Macrium Reflect to image the entire drive for when the s**t hits the fan
No. That's not how it works. We think the build is going to be 10400 because they USUALLY up the build number to a multiple of 400. They could very well not do that this time. We don't know. The only thing we know for sure is that both 10176 and 10208 are threshold1 builds and probably RTM candidates. Which one will get the sign-off?, we have no idea. Even if RTM leaked today, we have no idea if they'd even activate or if any of the Windows Update servers and language packs would be ready. This means limited drivers, language support, downloadable feature files, etc. Considering something like 95% of the complaints about any OS I see are from using anti-virus programs or bad drivers, I urge patience. It will NOT be perfect out the gate. Drivers WILL be a problem. Be patient.
Ahh, what a refreshing holiday, hope everyone got their postcards So.... what I miss? Did Vista Beta 2 leak yet?
bleh... dont remind me of vista beta 2. I still have it. I remember how bad nvidia drivers was for vista on my system.
Now i have VL keys geniune and OEM Key for windows 7 professional go back in Win 7 PRO Waiting for upgrade or stay in Build 10162
That's only good if you have just one HDD!! If you have 2 HDD's, Use one for Data etc. while the Main HDD will be run the OS! Think about: If an physical HDD goes down, what that means about any partition on it? Inaccessible! If you've 2 or even more HDD's, only the one with physical problems goes down, the other are still could be used!! The only HDD's I use with more than 1 Partition, are the OS HDD with 2 Partition, installed automatically by Windows! The other HDD's having only 1 partition while there's one exception: the HDD which contain special data and those is backed up at least once a day! All other personal and Company etc. Data are also backed up daily, which run fully automatic on incremental base. On that way I never had lose any important data!
240GB SSD for OS, 2TB HDD for storage, libraries locations changed to 2TB, that way when the OS gets reinstalled, nothing needs backing up
You're talking purely about folder size? You only have to mouse over to get folder size. Right-click Properties for detailed info or third party programs like Treesize Pro for more detailed info.
what if they released for OEM's soon than 28 july?? nevermind i play it all in and i try the Win 7 PRO SP1 way..
OEMs will get it the day it goes RTM...whenever that is and it could certainly be leaked by some kid working for Lenovo or Asus the same day. However that would be the OEM version and I'm not sure that would work for the free upgrades...still a lot of unanswered questions that only time will tell.
