Yeah, you have hit on my concern as well..will this become the second office365 and turn into a subscription service too.
Meh, if that happens, I know how to easily just switch over all my computers back to Linux And generally speaking, most of the other people I know could handle Linux with ease too. But I can't imagining that happening, at least without significant backlash.
Yes it is coming, MS wont admit it but we know Yes I can see the Ads now, For just 1,995.00 you to can have subscription for life for Win 10 (Price may vary, depending on who you know)
People didn't expect that with office either. It depends on the pricing, office gives you 5 PCs and 10 tablets for $79/year which isn't bad when you consider buying 5 copies would be $2000. I would expect windows to be even less.
I think it's the *nix distros like Ubuntu and Android that is forcing M$ to reconsider how they offer Windows, competition is starting to grow and M$ is going to do whatever it takes to keep their market share
They already have Firefox for windows. Spreading themselves even thinner isn't going to help the quality of their output.
Apologies if I've missed the obvious but why are updates being installed for Office 2013 components that I don't have installed. I don't have Powerpoint, Access installed but WU is installing updates for them! Why can't I choose what updates to install as in previous Windows versions? Edit: Hmm... The new WU procedure is going to take some getting used to, schedule a restart and all that new stuff.
