You couldn't have looked very hard because yours is the most straightforward upgrade scenario, and many have posted that they have done it successfully!

Download appropriate ESD and convert to ISO, burn to disc/dump to USB whatever. Boot into Win 8.1 and then run setup.exe from the Win 10 Build 10240 to upgrade first. Once you have upgraded check activation status. Unique hardware ID will be stored on MS servers. Now you are good to clean install - after you have first upgraded.

10240 is the final build. Why would MS give oem partners a different build to customers and GA on 29th July thats only 2 weeks away? ms have already stated there are no more builds. Just updates and fixes.

Windows Media Center is not available in Windows 10. Are you talking about Windows Media Player?

There is no RTM people. Everything has changed. This is the TH1, stable channel build. You'll get updates, but eventually you'll be prompted to install TH2. I think M$ will never confirm that this is the final version, since they're changing the way windows are released. Windows as a service i'll never be a finished OS, and will get some polish thru codename updates.

Bu that's just my 2 cents.
