Microsoft has now finalized Windows 10, ready for its release later this month. Sources familiar with Microsoft's plans tell The Verge that the software giant has selected build 10240 as the final release to manufacturing (RTM) copy, allowing PC makers to start loading the software onto new machines ready for release. We understand that Microsoft is signing off on the build internally today, and may announce the RTM publicly by the end of the week or choose to ignore the milestone and focus on the launch. While Microsoft is planning to launch Windows 10 on July 29th, new PCs with the software won’t be available until some weeks later. Microsoft is now pushing for existing and new device owners to upgrade to Windows 10 as part of a new marketing campaign. Microsoft will first roll out build 10240 to its Windows 10 testers, and the company is now focused on patches and fixes that will also roll out alongside the OS launch. While the RTM process is a milestone for Microsoft, especially almost 20 years to the day the company finalized Windows 95, it’s really just one step in a new model that will see Windows act more like a service.
The previous keys do not work for me with 10240 ISO. Used 8N67H-... with US x64 Pro, and it was rejected. Is there any solution?
negative: there already showed a 10240.16388 on Chinese site confirmed by FaiKee. This means they got some RTM candidates cooking on their oven atm. Final build will no have a 10240 "ugly" number. It will be nicely set to a round thing like 20400 or even 20800
Guys THERE WILL be a new build between now and July 29th. We're doing final testing on RTM to catch last-minute bugs before the 29th. Only a COUPLE of vendors are selling OEM Win10 on the 29th, and those people that buy day-0 Win10 PCS will probably have to upgrade to the Retail build. MS will probably deploy the newest build to OEMs after July 29th, which is why most vendors are waiting until September to sell Win10 computers.
Damn!! all this happened while i was having a slumber in a nice cold bath, maybe i should do this more often downloading now, will make meself an iso too while im at it for fresh install.
well I dont think that RTM is right term for Windows 10.. manufactures already have 10240 build and they will deploy it for machines to be rdy to 29th.. RTM is all gone with Windows as Service, cause it will never be "gold". There will be always something to patch, upgrade etc.. I think that 10240 is ok to install on primary pc.
