Let's hope it stands by that statement. It is a little confusing when the Redmond giant schedules RTM for the 29 July only to receive it before then.
Interesting, phone activations weren't working for me yesterday. Did it accept your activation string or speak to a tech? Said it couldn't confirm mine and I didn't wait for a tech.
sheesh, I wonder why I don't. pffft, nm I have it I was looking in the pull down menu for it. oh, and I also have it in core so go figure.....
We think it's RTM, but that GA will release a patched version that fixes issues. We could be wrong. It could be that they issue an entirely different build. *shrug*
yeah this is 10240.16384.amd64fre.th1.150709-1700 so something other than the 10240 will change, most likely.
Microsoft commits to free 10-year Windows 10 support policy For Windows 10, Microsoft will continue its traditional 10-year support lifecycle. The five-year mainstream support phase begins with the release of Windows 10 on July 29, 2015, and a second five-year extended support phase begins in 2020 and extends until October 2025. (That's a few months later than July 29, 2025, because of the way Microsoft calculates support dates.) A note to that policy qualifies the support commitment to devices where the OEM continues to support Windows 10 on that device.
Professional users (including users who upgrade from previous Professional operating systems) will have the option to defer updates for approximately eight months by using the Current Branch for Business ring. Microsoft notes: “Customers who are embracing Current Branch for Business do need to consume that feature update within the allotted time period of approximately eight months or they will not be able to see and consume the next security update.” Companies like Apple and Google no longer separate out their feature updates from their security updates, but tend to offer everything as a package deal. Only severe issues that require out-of-band security patches are fixed with their own releases. Security updates, well, ok but feature updates and hardware updates? BACK OFF.
yeah defer will hold off the feature updates etc for a month or so. at least that gives MDL time to thwart it and kill the forced WU's
All low level support techs just punch the same question in their KB database (or they ask their boss). Half the time, they have no idea what their saying.
