It's derived from what was posted by xinso 2 days ago. But those links are kind of broken. The ISO is working perfectly well. I did a fresh install from DVD.

1. Here's the deal, OEM keys (can't say for retail as yet) still usable to revert back windows 8 at any point in time (30/31 days only applies because windows will do a maintenance clean up and remove the windows.old option) you can still do a clean reinstall windows and use the same key you had

2. The MSA can tell which machines are apart of the Insider team. If you want to update to windows 10 on the desktop.
You can either upgrade from windows 7/8 on July 29.
Or possible use a older build of windows 10 and sign up for the insider on the desktop and then update your way to latest version.

 

Why can't you do a clean install from 8.1 to 10? Aren't the keys embedded in the uefi bios?

how exactly am i going to get this new key? is M$ going to email them or what? what ISO am i going to have to use? will I have to use a generic key on said iso to install then use this new key M$ creates to activate it?

 

does anyone have the en-gb x86 esd they can link me to at all? the original download link is now "access denied" thanks for any help.

 

I contacted MS support.
I upgraded from Win7 to Win10
Got a generic key, but Win10 appears as Permanently Activated.

Microsoft support told me that i'm going to get a new, full key the 29th (email).

It seems that they register what machines (HwID) upgraded. If your machine is in their servers as upgraded you can activate using the generic keys. And it seems that then you get your full key the 29th.

My Win10 isn't a Preview or Insider one. And i'm getting updates.

I don't think you'll get a new key on the 29. Because Microsoft does not have everyone's email address, so how the key will be sent to you, even if Microsoft desires to do so? I am talking about the upgrades from WIN7/8 to Win10 without an MSA.
