If you installed KB3074667 and you check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion, it should say 10240.16393.amd64fre.th1_st1.150717-1719
I'm trying to install win 10 (10204) from win 7 (genuine) . I was using win8.1 (kms) , but since I had win 7 home premium genuine key, I thought for downgrading and installing win 10. Now , I've installed win 7 and activated it with my key (no updates installed), now as I run win 10 setup from exe, I get a window to put product key Should I put the freely available win 10 key, but I think it won't last past 29th July, Why is it asking key for my win 7 activated copy . Please suggest.
I think this KB update caught the real gabe with his pants down...I tweeted it to him first...waiting for a response... To the OP below this one...he has not even mentioned this one. I misread something he tweeted earlier...about a fix for a particular issue...and somehow made the jump there would be a KB update today haha.
It would be nice if ms let us know what these updates are fixing..it was obvious Aul was being very evasive about the last one.
After KB3074667... Code: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10240] (c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:\WINDOWS\system32>REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v "BuildLabEx" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion BuildLabEx REG_SZ 10240.16393.amd64fre.th1_st1.150717-1719 C:\WINDOWS\system32>
Personally, with the whole 'Windows as a Service' thing, and the fact that the RTM was only delivered 2 weeks before GA, I wouldn't be at all surprised of the build string keeps updating *AFTER* July 29th. It will probably stay 10240.x, but it wouldn't shock me if the 'x' keeps changing after retail day.
i guess that's why my internet was down after i rebooted..had to manually disable and reenable my adapter after 5 minutes to get it back.
Not gonna quibble over semantics new build string vs new sub-build number..the string changed is all I was interested in.
