Because there's no such thing as a GOOD antivirus program. They're all crap. Their only use is to block extremely old malware.
It is OK. (Relax, man. My devices are all genuine OEMs. I just played to check it out.) For me. I did not say YOU.
NOPE! there are some better than others , for me i usually use ESET Smart Security which it detects a large amount of worms that is designated to my country's PCs !
I haven't had a virus in many years, I do still see a lot of spyware floating around but very rare do I come across viruses. It seems like viruses are near a thing of the past, its all about spyware/randomware now as money making has become the incentive, not about having a stoned pc or a bit of a joke or coding something, old school viruses wwere actually extremely well programmed, tiny in size, polymorphic and mutating and actually more like real human viruses in nature.
NS symantec, NIS 2015 (tried, very bugy atm), Kaspersky 2015/2016, Malwarebytes, Mcafee 2015 IS (sucks though, tried). I'm sure the freeware works too
I updated with the esd's here form a Win 7 Pro install. Its activated but witht he generic key 3V66T. But reports permanently activated. Is this any cause for concern? Should I have used the OEM image?
That odd I ask because I upgraded a customers computer with 8.1 core to 10 pro using the OEM image and they got a unique key. Maybe it was the same as the 8.1 one I cant recall I have to look at the licence backup. It this specific to 7 > 10 upgrades?
I mis typed my last post the customers laptop was 8.1 core and upgraded to 10 home with a unique key reported ant the end of upgrade My laptop went from retail 7 pro to 10 pro but I got a generic key What do you mean by specific keys for Home and Pro. You say there is no cause for concern so I assume we will get unique keys from MS in the future?
Yes.. I agree with you . I am still with Windows Defender for windows 10 pro . so far everything goes fine. thanks murphy for your very hard working to let me having a fully activated windows 10 pro, I am very much appreciated. thanks again

Yep, that generic MAK key is already known. This doesnt work on Enterprise, since it seems to require new MAKs. Let's see if this will prevail.
Use something with a behaviour blocker/HIPS and sandbox like Comodo. It'll run any new executable files in restricted mode with HIPS or sandbox them completely. It has an antivirus component but I never install it. Everything you run is checked in the cloud database anyway so it'll be blocked if it's known malware.
