It seems that upgrade once thru WU is only for Insiders without genuine Windows 7/8.*. I just upgraded my Acer with 10240 ISO, and it activated with Windows 10 preinstalled key upon completion of installation.
Anyone having crashes with this build. I think I have tracked it down to Video related. Nvidia driver I think. Using 341.74 works good, but upgrade to 353.30 and it crashes. Anyone one else having this problem.
Multiple times on this thread other people answered that builds 105xx are for update 1 (or 2) to windows 10 rtm
Windows 10 is a service upgrade is required if you want to keep the original license future new installation does not require inserting serial
What will happen to licenses for machines all activated with the same 8.1 TechNet key? As TechNet keys can activate multiple machines, will that cause any problems with 10 licenses after upgrading?
Ok I did my best I can reading all the posts and I thank everyone for their efforts and input. I have a Surface Pro 3. I used the ESD made and ISO of x64 Pro and upgraded it. It says it is activated. I'm about to do the Clean Install. I'm just curious of why is the Clean Install Required? Does that connect my UID to a new Product Key in their DB?
The Fresh Install is optional, no need if you don't want. Since a lot here prefer to install a new OS from scratch, it was interesting to now that it works.
A normally bought 10 Retail key will still offer this. Question is how the Free Upgrade Licensing will be handled in this regard. Shouldn't be confused.
