Security Update KB3074667 is causing too much problem. So far since the first build there were no major issues but KB3074667 causing lag everywhere. Looks like something to do with the fonts and .NET. Is there anyway we can stop windows applying this update. I have uninstalled this update and system resumed to normal performance but since we can't stop windows to apply updates it is downloaded immediately and applied.
Thanks mate - This did solve the problem but partially. I uninstalled KB3074667 and then used the tool to block the update. This improved performance but there is still some lag, looks like it left some bits installed by the installer/uninstaller. I have tried old graphics drivers, same issues. There was a problem with the Realtek drivers this morning so I installed the old drives. Will try uninstalling other Security updates like KB3074665 and KB3074663 one by one and see if this solves the issues.
Currently running clean install Enterprise 10240 activated via MTK 2.5.3 KMS (only way?) Previous Windows 8 and 8.1 also activated via MTK KMS Laptop came with Windows 8, but hard drive was formatted and given away replaced within 30 minutes with SSD with Windows 8.1 MTK KMS Other than digging out an old version of Windows 7 legit key and upgrading to Windows 10 for permanent activation. Are there any other choices for permanent activation? And what does "permanent activation" really mean, and how is it any better from the way a lot of us have been activating via MTK KMS for a while now.
Yep, can be that easy . In case one activates his shiny new Retail erroneous as Volume in experiments with Office, simply needs to re-install the generic Retail, done .
#1. Only way atm. #2. Harddrive shouldn't avoid Win 8 OEM activation, did you try to get the key from BIOS? #3. 'permanently' per MS Free Upgrade Offer definition means the 'lifetime' of the upgraded device.
I have a upgrade fail because of startup problems, and another member did not work until he ran check disk to fix errors, just trying to cover all bases. This is what MS recommends:What you can do before attempting the upgrade? You can do some pre-requisite tasks to ensure a smooth migration to Windows 10. If you are using a name brand computer such as a Dell or HP, go to the manufacturers website for the model computer you are using and download the latest available drivers for that computer. Store them on a disc or USB thumb drive. Important drivers you should try to obtain include Chipset, Network and Video Drivers. Its possible that they might have only Windows 7 drivers, those will work with Windows 10. Other things you can do: 1.Uninstall any security software before attempting to upgrade. 2.Disable any encryption software you might have installed. 3.Disable/uninstall disk utility software such as DVD/CD burning utilities or third party defragment programs such as Perfect Disk. 4.Make sure your computer is updated (devices and applications). 5.Disconnect any external devices before installing. 6.Check your hard disk for any errors: - Click Start - Type: CMD - Right click CMD then click Run as administrator At the Command Prompt, type: chkdsk /r /f Exit the command prompt. When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and attempts will be made to correct them. 7.Another thing you can do is disable Start items: •Click Start •Type: MSCONFIG. •Hit Enter on your keyboard •On the General tab, click Selective Startup. •Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. •Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. •Click OK. •When you are prompted, click Restart. •After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved. Run the System File Checker utility. SFC/Scannow checks your Windows installation for errors and corrects them. This will help with ensuring that a smooth upgrade occurs. Click Start
