They've said something to the effect of losing activation if you leave the insider program, but there's been no evidence of that actually happening. It's possible that they meant for future insider builds or something.
left insider program installed my win 8 legit did the upgrade from win10 10240 esd and its activated so all good can clean install now if I want
you can leave insider convert the esd to iso install and activate your legit win 8 then do the upgrade you will be activated and then you can clean install win10
The issue we have on this is no way to test this. We do not know if that is a future implementation through an update or not. I cannot test it as I am a legit Win 8 user. I do know when I I did a clean install, no internet access as Windows does not install my NIC, and no MSA entered as soon as I installed my NIC driver it activated. A bigger test would some one who upgraded from an non genuine windows version, opt out of the insider program and set their bios ( not windows clocks ahead 5 or 10 years) and see what happens. And I mean where you have the non genuine watermark not through a loader or slic bios table injection.
I didn't and I'm not worried I will be deactivated. What that guy may have been trying to say but didn't know how to put into words is that if you upgrade and then clean install and because you are a MSA you get activated. Then you drop out of the insiders you might (will) get deactivated if you started with an illegal copy of windows...the most important part of the whole thing he left out.
Are the MS activation servers for W10 up and running? I thought I read they turned them off until 7/29. TIA
i, gonna be on the safe side and wait. I dont think we will have to wait for the insiders as they already have it. I think at the norm time of day it will be available to be pushed out to everyone at the same time. So I would say just wait
I don't think insider or not makes any difference. I upgraded a OEM Windows 7 that had never been part of the insider program and did not use a Microsoft account just local account. Then wiped and installed fresh. It activated in both cases without ever using any connection to insider or Microsoft login account
With no quoted post of what your replying to I'm guessing you're replying to this... . Screen is black and he can't get into safe mode - you did read his post?
New Activations are off. If you were previously activated, those activation server checks still work. No you cannot use previous builds and activate at this time. For example you cannot activate build 10130. Also you have to upgrade from a qualifying OS on builds 10162 or 10166 to possible have any chance of activation, however there are other methods. ( Search is your friend). TBH I am do not know if you can currently go from win 8.1, 7 to builds 10162, 10166, or 10240, as I have been in the insider program since day one and all my HW IDs are now stored with MS. However once you upgrade successfully you can clean install
Activation servers are always running. The only thing that was disabled was the insider preview keys.
ms says they won't push it out all at once. they will do it in waves and after each wave they will stop and evaluate the process.
Exactly, can't reinstall the driver if I can't see anything... I will reinstall Win10 and retry, maybe it'll work this time who knows. If it matters I'm using 2x GTX 970 in SLI.
Hey guys If I activate a copy of windows 8.1 pro with kmspico, can I upgrade to windows 10 pro and stay activated I saw news that windows loader then upgrade would activate windows 10 So maybe this work as well Thanks in advance...
