No the bosses won't go for that, now if you throw some of them Indian women in their, that may change their minds Have a crack at post 5190
I really wonder how quickly MS will post ISOs...no matter how many times they tell people they have to upgrade first some portion of those billion pcs will try to do a clean install first if the iso is readily available..it might be a nightmare if that happens.
Sorry to disenchant this, but the time-bombed Previews also show this for /xpr, still they will expire in october.
that i understand m8, i did have an activated 8.1, and i was going to downgrade so i could update it, to get the activation as you said, but i thought to turn off the insider first and see what happens, and when i checked after that as you can see, i get this activation message. my question was windows says this a permanent activation, so is it permanent for all future installs, or just for this one (which means i will still need to downgrade and update back again) . what i understand from your reply is that , this activation is just "Decoration", it will either be deactivated after july 29th, or it'll only work for this installation, and on any future reinstall the windows wont be activated...am i right?
Now that the machine has been activated using an upgrade to Windows 10 you're now able to do a clean install and stay activated, the only thing you need to do is when it asks for a license key skip it on the clean install.
Don't get me wrong here, yours still might be permanently activated, what ever that means today. I only hinted on the fact that /xpr is not that reliable here .
oh, ye of little faith Microsoft don't seem like they want to go hardcore trying to prevent Windows 10 being pirated, they're too scared of their impending doom with people moving away from Windows. They'll just hope to make money out of the store rather than the OS itself.
if it's "permanently activated", that will mean that if i installed the Wzor leak on a clean install (no 8.1 upgrade) it will still be activated (and without a time-bomb)..right? i could try that and see what happens
The official Time-Bomb of the Pre-10240 builds showed up in slmgr /dlv. Keep in mind that MS is able to easily detect your status as an 'Opted-Out-Insider' aka 'MS-Outsider', with no upgrade from legit systen and could trigger deactivation at any time, as a batch-ban-attack.
Hi Friends: I have a PC with Windows 8.1 and Office 2013...and I would like to update to Windows 10 10240 (X20-08980_SW_DVD5_NTRL_Win_10_64BIT_English_Win_Pro)...please confirm me the steps to get a new Activation Backup: 1. Update to Windows 10 (run setup) from the USB and get the Activation online 2. Run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 and get Activation Backup for Windows 10 and Office 2013 3. Run a Windows 10 Clean Installation from the USB 4. Install Office 2013 5. Run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 and get Activation Restore for Windows 10 and Office 2013 Are the steps correct?, What additional steps do you recommend me? Thanks in advanced for your help. TecMan
Gabe were clear here, stay insider or upgrade legit build. No cookies for insiders. He mentioned that opted-out version will expire (most eventually). Not this long to wait any more .... the curiousity sheerly kills me .
All repeat: No Backups needed. Especially for Volume Versions that expire, they make no sense at all, as you might try to revert an expired license . SO: Upgrade and check Windows is activated. NO BACKUP!!! Office will get de-activated in Upgrade and needs to be re-activated via KMS, same applies for the Fresh INstall.
As its still a year before the free upgrade ends, I'd leave things as there are till at least the end of Oct maybe even Nov to see if its time bombed. Whether it is or isn't you won't lose anything.
Hi s1ave77: Thanks for your reply...questions: 1. Can I run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 to re-activate Office 2013, after Windows 10 update? 2. Can I run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 to get Activation Backup for Windows 10 and Office 2013? Thanks for your help. TecMan
Has Gabe ever said what will happen if we upgrade our genuine copies of 7/8.1 to Windows 10 and NOT leave the insider program? Or is this question only going to be answered once the 29th comes around? lol My desire to upgrade my Windows 7 Ultimate to 10 Pro, is just as strong as staying in the Insider program. Can we have both options?
How To Disable Automatic Driver Installation In Windows Go to Start–>Search type in gpedit.msc Click the file to open the Local Group Policy Editor and show Windows who is in control!! You want to go here: Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->System->Device Installation. Click on the subfolder Device Installation on the left and on the right side you will see the possible restrictions. Right Click on Prevent Installation of Devices not described by other policy settings and edit this option, set it on ENABLED. Reboot Windows and enjoy its inability to pollute your system with its standard driver, open gpedit.msc again and revert the change so you will be able to install your driver. Well see if this works now also anyway to get cortana to work with voice as its saying it isn't available in my area ..
