Hi Friends: I have a PC with Windows 8.1 and Office 2013...and I would like to update to Windows 10 10240 (X20-08980_SW_DVD5_NTRL_Win_10_64BIT_English_Win_Pro)...please confirm me the steps to get a new Activation Backup: 1. Update to Windows 10 (run setup) from the USB and get the Activation online 2. Run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 and get Activation Backup for Windows 10 and Office 2013 3. Run a Windows 10 Clean Installation from the USB 4. Install Office 2013 5. Run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 and get Activation Restore for Windows 10 and Office 2013 Are the steps correct?, What additional steps do you recommend me? Thanks in advanced for your help. TecMan
Gabe were clear here, stay insider or upgrade legit build. No cookies for insiders. He mentioned that opted-out version will expire (most eventually). Not this long to wait any more .... the curiousity sheerly kills me .
All repeat: No Backups needed. Especially for Volume Versions that expire, they make no sense at all, as you might try to revert an expired license . SO: Upgrade and check Windows is activated. NO BACKUP!!! Office will get de-activated in Upgrade and needs to be re-activated via KMS, same applies for the Fresh INstall.
As its still a year before the free upgrade ends, I'd leave things as there are till at least the end of Oct maybe even Nov to see if its time bombed. Whether it is or isn't you won't lose anything.
Hi s1ave77: Thanks for your reply...questions: 1. Can I run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 to re-activate Office 2013, after Windows 10 update? 2. Can I run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 to get Activation Backup for Windows 10 and Office 2013? Thanks for your help. TecMan
Has Gabe ever said what will happen if we upgrade our genuine copies of 7/8.1 to Windows 10 and NOT leave the insider program? Or is this question only going to be answered once the 29th comes around? lol My desire to upgrade my Windows 7 Ultimate to 10 Pro, is just as strong as staying in the Insider program. Can we have both options?
How To Disable Automatic Driver Installation In Windows Go to Start–>Search type in gpedit.msc Click the file to open the Local Group Policy Editor and show Windows who is in control!! You want to go here: Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->System->Device Installation. Click on the subfolder Device Installation on the left and on the right side you will see the possible restrictions. Right Click on Prevent Installation of Devices not described by other policy settings and edit this option, set it on ENABLED. Reboot Windows and enjoy its inability to pollute your system with its standard driver, open gpedit.msc again and revert the change so you will be able to install your driver. Well see if this works now also anyway to get cortana to work with voice as its saying it isn't available in my area ..
Got it in one!!!!!!!!!! Previously M$ would go all out to stop pirated copies being activated, sometimes even affecting legit users. BUT now M$ like Google now see revenue not from the their product, BUT services. They see their operating systems as "gateways" to them providing services to you. Apple started this and showed how successful this is, and M$ is catching up. So M$ aint too worried about who gets activated. In fact the more the merrier. The bigger number of people using Windows 10, the bigger the customer base to plunder with services
Yep, MTK will work out-of-the-box for Office 15 . AGAIN: No need to backup any of those licenses. Office is Volume (expiration) and Win 10 Free Upgrade needs online activation, THIS IS MANDATORY, No OFFLINE BACKUP/RESTORE POSSIBLE SO FAR.
Does that mean that one system locale is faster than another? Or it's just 'en-gb' version itself slower or buggy than 'us'? If so, is there is some more info about this 'feature'?
Sometimes I get confused over the DirectX. It reads DirecctX 12 in two previous builds and now I am having Direct X version 11.2. I am having Intel HD 4000.
That would be hard if different . Thankfully there's only 0/1 or english at the base, imagine processing chinese written C# .
I don't think that bothers them at all. I think they see an opportunity to save billions a year (maybe a ted exaggerated) if they only have one OS to support going forward and the way this one is designed they won't have to start over for years if ever.
Hi s1ave77: Let me give you the last steps: 0. Run Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 and get Activation Backup for Office 2013 (under Windows 8.1) 1. nope, that's too long sighted, they still have to support 7 for many years to come, and windows 8, hell, they are even supporting vista with updates for some years yet. It will be 20 odd years until that proved true.
You won't need to try restore the windows 10 activation (not that its possible), it will already be activated.
