Win 10 Pro 10240 Can someone confirm %Windir%\Media\Windows Start-up.wav is 37.4 KB (38,380 bytes) and a feeble little click sound plz. Code: Windows Start-up.wav CRC32: BFB6F316 MD5: 2186201E9BB9BDF4AAA57B1971524239 SHA-1: 1E0A86ACEA4ABC763998086AD647F49728DE1204 This is obviously supposed to be the Windows start up sound if the check box is enabled in Windows sounds?
Okay, but suppose it's just there for legacy stuff like office 2013 and such and they've moved the bulk of activation and key stuff to the new licensing service... We really don't know much about the activation and we shouldn't draw many conclusions.
KB3074681 broke Network card properties here too. But sfc didn't find any errors, so need to wait for a patch.
broken here as well... GA can't come soon enough to give MS the rest.. lol will be awesome to have that many bugs at GA... millions of complaining users going back to win 7. Free or not - no one wants a bugfest on a main working machine.
True it could just exist for legacy purposes. However I am very confident on this. Also I am not making any assumptions with the information I have on the Windows Licensing. The windows licensing system is fairly big however there are a number of files which are integral in terms of existing. If they don't exist then the entire Windows activation system will not work. I am confident enough that if we do this: Then that will put the matter to rest. I'll be very straight forward. I really do know enough about the activation to draw the conclusions. We have enough prior information to nail the Windows 10 licensing. I could track the information flow from the point you put a license key in if I wanted to.
Well guys no rush you do have a year and in that year alot could happen .. so please take your time plus think it would be better talking about this somewhere more discreet then ms don't now ..
Go prove something, mang. You're great at coming up with hypothesis, but not so great at actually proving them.
Will PM you. It is very much possible to track the information flow. The point of this is to show the amount of info available. With a good amount of the certainty I can say that the windows licensing has not changed much at all since Windows 7. Same boring system.
Hash and size matches mine. The "Play Windows Startup sound" was unchecked in Control Panel\Sound so I checked it on and rebooted. I didn't hear anything on startup and login. I also noticed I couldn't select a sound file below the check box I enabled, meaning the area was grayed out. edit: the grayed out area which I thought was a bug is not, it becomes active when I select items in the scroll window, d'oh. edit2: the same wav file is also present in Windows 7 lol, wut? Same name, same hash and same location. edit3: google says the window 7 startup sound is actually in the imageres.dll file in c:\windows\system32 and this file also exists for windows 10.
Guys, How can i update an update in Windows update - as KB3074681 has broke my network card properties. Thanks in advance
