Thank you. Yes the same file (Windows Start-up.wav) hash matches, exists in Win 8.1 also but as you point out neither it or any of the other .wav's in %windir%\Media are the Windows startup sound. Perhaps we have found a small bug, startup sound is broken in Win 10 Pro?
Most of the newer chipset boards (B85+ ) on the MSI website have win10 drivers available too. They are still using the old 8.1.0.25 Killer drivers fro win 10 though. Must be ok...
Now that I think about it I don't recall ever hearing the startup sound in windows 8/8.1. On Wikipedia_dot_org/wiki/List_of_features_removed_in_Windows_8 Code: The sounds played upon login, logout and system shutdown were removed. The startup sound remains but is disabled by default. There's a reg hack to re-enable it for win 8.1 but on windows 10 I wouldn't be surprised if this change is intentional for performance reasons, as was cited by others when justifying removal from windows 8.1. Honestly I don't really care if the startup sound is broken as I didn't miss it in 8.1 and I still don't miss it now.
The Windows Start-up sound was disabled by default in Win 8.1, equally in Windows 10. When you tick "Play Windows Start-up sound" it should work. And I'm guessing the reg hacks you speak of are the ExcludeCPL tweaks which just re-enable the disabled SystemExit and WindowsLogoff entries in Win 8.1 system sounds.
Broadcom here, and no issues with the update. Maybe it was a bug introduced as a result of them hopefully trying to fix the wifi DHCP issue.
It annoys the crap out of me how they say this at the end of all the updates Additionally, this update includes non–security-related changes to enhance the functionality of Windows 10 through new features and improvements. Why can't they say what the "improvements" are!
That security update is cumulative so I assume it replaces the last security update which was support_dot_microsoft_dot_com/en-us/kb/3074680. I see one change in the summary: Code: opens a specially crafted document or goes to an untrusted webpage changed to Code: opens a specially crafted document or visits an untrusted webpage
