I have backed up the activation. I am now reinstalling fresh and then going to try restore that same activation. At least this would be away for people to clean install this i guess. :/ I don't think this is final. My other machine i went 8.1 > 10166 > 10240.. Result the same key also gone right to 10240 fresh no prior install or activation backup. Unactivated but took the generic key (still wont activate though) It does not matter if you go 7 > 10240 or 8 > 10240 or 10166 > 10240 it always seams to result in same generic key and status. The only thing that wont is fresh install that just doesnt activate.
I think it had to do with the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor that installed on all Windows 7 and 8.1 PC. This Tool collect your Hardware and send an ID to Microsoft. When you now install Windows 10 and the ID is in Database your Windows ist automatically activated.
im on 1030 that i upgraded through an iso its showing all the right stuff but not upgrading.......any help would be appreciatted even a link to the latest build
Read my original post; If I'm permanently activated with slmgr /xpr.... how? Everyone... I created an ISO (10240) from my own ESD that I downloaded via windows update. -I clean installed the machine. -I refused to enter a product key at installation -I refused to enter a product key at the end of installation -I refused to use a Microsoft account (Created local account) -I never typed any personal detail at all about myself into the installation. slmgr -xpr says "Windows(R), Professional edition: The machine is permanently activated." Is the ISO I created specific to me? How am I even activated?
As mentioned before this will show 'permanently' on timebombed predecessors. Either 'winver' or the '/dlv' switch.
It falls back to default key (even if you dont put one) it's odd it activated still though done 2 fresh installs so far and not had any luck like that.
way back someone asked about upgrading from the 10176 enterprise build. not sure they got an answer. I just did it. upgraded to the 10204 enterprise one(64bit) I didn't check to see if it was available on windows update though. didn't want to wait for it to download. I upgraded using iso I created from esd. upgrade went fine but I wasn't activated. so I ran the tool kit 2.5.3 clicked easy activator, waited for it to finish. rebooted and was activated. not permanently though. says it expires in 2016 as it should say cause kms activated.
My /dlv switch output says: License Status: Licensed Remaining Windows rearm count: 1001 Remaining SKU rearm count: 1001 Trusted time: 7/15/2015 6:46:09 PM There is no mention of "Evaluation end date" Keep in mind I haven't entered any product keys or given any Microsoft account information (using local account)... this is a clean install from iso that I created from my windows update esd.... how am I activated?
Hi all, where and find en 10240, from where you take info and links to the RTM - insder does not show anything new yet, and portals revolve around the same information about a build and release new party MS. Current build 10176 does not detect an update to a new release though I'm on the cat MS and incorporated updates Isider.
