So you've gone to control panel, network and sharing center, and change adapter settings and right clicked on one of your ethernet adapters in there and it doesn't restart explorer?
you should have said, "They need to fix it for those with a problem, otherwise GA will not go smoothly for some."
I have Windows 10 running in VMware and that update causes those problems. I have Windows 10 running on hardware and that update does not cause any of those issues. So it depends on the system, not all are effected.
OH, I take it back, sort of. Ethernet settings don't restart IE, BUT I cant get into my settings on the Ethernet port to change IP addresses, so YES "we have a problem". Eating humble pie right now, tastes a little bitter!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just cutting another slice of that pie!!!!!!!!!! Seems I cant access ALL MY ADAPTERS settings (wifi, modem), so cant change the settings on any of them. However Windows 10 must have stored my fixed IP addresses as the network still works. Boy that's a bitter pie.!!!!!!!!!!!
that's a good thing, Kaspersky update their definitions often too, it means the microsoft antivirus team are working hard and the virus makers are working hard...
I am having an anomoly with sound. Sound works, but when I plug in my headphones, the sound is no longer smart enough to turn off in the speakers and turn on in the headphones. With some drilling in sound properties, I can make the switch from speakers to headphones. But, this is the sort of thing that should just happen automatically. Additionally, whenever Windows tries to access my old Logitech Communicate STX camera, it bluescreens on me. Other third-party apps can access the camera just fine. In Win 8.1, Windows wouldn't blue screen...it just wouldn't recognize the camera. Those two issues aside, things seem to be going well for me with 10240.
I noticed it there and in trying to uninstall programs....explorer just crashes-to-desktop, as soon as I put in the command to uninstall the update--crash-ola! It doesn't take anything else with it, but that's bad enough--can't even check the status of my Ethernet adapter without it crashing explorer. Really odd, that...they had explorer.exe trouble for a long while with the start menu and some things associated with it--looks like the code is still bugged there. Glad you guys saw it, too...because now I know it's not because of something frightful that I did somewhere.... EDIT: WU KB3074683 Fixed it! Everything back to normal...so far...
This is the first time in 10 years where I have not been running a RTM version of Windows weeks/months before its general release. Just reading the reports, Windows 10 seems incredibly buggy and will need a lot of time to become stable even after July 29th.
