Which key in bios? How is it possible that i've activated both home and pro on one system? As far as i know there is no key in the bios (only oemm in oem systems will have a key), your system gets hashed by ms during the upgrade and that hash (hardware id) is stored by ms on their servers...
ok let me ask this question one more time sense no one has answer me yet......do insiders just stay on this build or do we up date on the new release by MS today and then do a clean install? and what key do we use on clean install? or do we just do a complete reset on this build and were good to go?
Yupz, i've extracted an esd from windows and there are still the same updates and retaildemo packages inside the wim/esd file. They are still the same as murphy78's esd file repository, only the iso's downloaded by the mediacreation tool containing a wim file instead of an esd file won't mount here. The wims from the esd files do just fine.
its ok my problem is that my search (or cortana) doesn't work on my account. when i click the magnifying glass, no popup appears at all. WIN+S doesn't bring it up either. and when i try to launch Cortana from the menu, it doesn't do anything. i just found out though that on another account on this computer, search does work. no clue why it doesn't work on my account.
Hi Lobo11, why don't you answer my few questions? I asked you why te wim files downloaded by the ms mediacreation tool won't let it be mounted? Your answer was how to upgrade and clean install... I asked you where you read that the key will be put in my bios? you gave me a link containing once the word "bios" and that was not about putting any key in it...
so this only for windows 7,8 upgrade......to win10......so insiders can finally do complete reset wish basically a clean install.
I don't know all the answers to your questions, probably the reason your having problems with Media C Tool is Microsoft servers are over loaded like us, someone will be around to help, sorry
Again do you not understand my question, you only copy/paste over and over again the same message... I will try to explain myself: I can download whatever with the tool, after downloading you get an iso with either an esd file in it (if you choose both by architecture) or a wim file (if you choose a 32bit or a 64bit). The esd file can be reversed to wim and that one will mount perfectly, but the wim file in the iso directly downloaded isn't mountable. And still no answer about your "Key is in the bios" messages, here on mdl it's otherwise explained.
Your problem is with MS, read FAQ's in my sig First you must upgrade, it reads key in your BIOS, then clean install, no keys needed, this is not copy paste, read FAQ's, thanks
Upgraded from 7 Ultimate to 10 pro will no real issues. Activated and all that. But when I sleep the PC it keeps randomly waking up. I disconnected the mouse/keyboard and the issue remains. When I run "powercfg -lastwake" I get this Code: Wake History Count - 1 Wake History [0] Wake Source Count - 0
