i just did my clean install.......no issues...if u are a insider no need to do a upgrade and then a clean install.......just create your media DVD or USB using media creator tool do a clean install use what ever key your machine is using theirs only two for PRO ending in TXYCV or 3V66T and your good to go
Windows Insiders do not have to fresh install, what fer, they are required to download every ISO that comes out If they have MSA's from 10162 up their OK
hey better safe than sorry....besides clean install removes all the previous build sludge under the hood....my comp is running super nice
"key logger" is set in customize settings during setup or in settings->privacy pane Look for the one that says "Send Microsoft info about how I write to help us improve typing and writing in the future" Turn it off for disable "key logger"
so in flashing this build a week or so ago. did a clean install refresh after activation. explorer shows me as 10.10240.16405. which from reading is assuming what you all have.. i have disabled insider preview now. but under updates still says uninstall latest preview build. and my last update reads (KB3074683). so reading i know this and the rtm hash are the same. but does the release yesterday have those uninstall preview notes? also am i updated to latest?i ask cause well i haven't gotten anything update wise since the 28th. i only just disabled preview builds. figured we would of got something by now.
If i remember correctly updates are based on compatible hardware and not region or version of windows. So its a crap shoot on who gets it and when i believe.
My insider button is greyed out, can't opt-in or opt-out whether I'm attached to my Microsoft Account or not. I'm still on build 10240.16384, even though that's not the version we're supposed to be on now. Kind of confused, really.
Am going to do the upgrade on my PC now(But I want to do a clean install after wards) confused about how to use the media creation tool. I have it opened now and it gives me two options Upgrade this PC now and Create installation media for another PC..what do I have to do in order to create the ISO image so I can do the upgrade..or do I have to "Upgrade this PC now" then after it reboots and its done I can then create the ISO image and do a clean install..just want to make sure I Do it right
i understand that. but i have 3 machines from old to i7 with r7 gpu lol. all same. was wondering if those versions were same for all. I.E windows version and last update.
So I chose option Create installation media for another PC and I burn it to disc, then I upgrade windows 8.1 using that disc..once upgraded then I can do a clean install? Since I have windows 8.1 HOME that means I can only install Windows 10 HOME is that correct?
