Go see response in the other thread you were asking. Basically nothing wrong. Servers are taking too many requests for activation. It will activate automatically in the next couple of days.
Been out for a few hours so didnt get a chance to do a clean install til now. I have a Dell XPS 8700 Desktop. I already upgraded to Windows 10 HOME but I want to do the clean install with disc, the thing is I cant get into BIOS in order to change it so that it reads the disc when it boots up, Ive tried pressing F12 when I see the Dell logo, Ive also pressed F2 and nothing happens..for a second I saw a white screen but nothing happened not sure what to do
You have to go into update and security, recovery, advanced startup and restart there. Otherwise windows 10 block those bios keys
no needs to its same damn o.s do a reset from with in windows. pick full wipe save nothing. same as disk install and stays activated.
Thought maybe you wanted to try and see if it worked since you have 3d printer, we could learn if it would work, jk, lol
My Windows 8.1 home was legit, its a Dell PC and it came with it so I dont need to worry about that I just prefer a clean install with disc like I did with the laptop but I cant get into BIOS
I just told you how to do so. did you read it. Restart that way if you want to boot from DVD otherwise Windows 10 blocks getting into bios or booting for DVD
YOu might need a tool from dell to boot into the bios from windows and turn off fast boot and turn on csm. Or use recovery boot and select the UEFI shell option under advanced.
Hi there. Solution as follows: Elevated CMD shutdown -s -t 1 Then turn back on and hit f2 to get into the bios or f12 to boot off your media
I see what you mean now I found out I will click advanced startup and then I will boot it from DVD and do a clean install
It won't work unless it is rebooted from repair under updates and security. Other wise those bios keys are blocked by the operating system.
Once I click on advanced startup and it reboots..do I just put the disc in the PC and it will read it or do I still need to go into BIOS and how do I do so
Correct, or set the boot to legacy within Windows: Code: bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy
If you go into advanced startup, leave the disc in there and you should see on option to boot off the media. It doesn't have to be from the BIOS
It will boot to the DVD on restart if the DVD is in AND if your first boot priority in your bios is CD/DVD first device
