I do not think so, updates were added after it went to OEM's, it is not the same image as in FaiKee's thread with OEM image, what I am trying to say is you must Upgrade and clean install with same image, no mixing.
I upgraded with FaiKee's image, activated, then used MS tool to download ISO to clean install, no activation, had to put 8.1 back on, well do over, this time from 1 ISO
Wow is this true? I'm now 99% sure (100% before reading your post) that did a clean install with a different image and had no problems, it activated.
Most of the images on 29 Jul were the same, im saying older images such as FaiKee's image you upgraded with, then used a image from Jul 29 did not work for me.
Nah, not suddenly, in 180 days from now . I am so dang confused I updated today 08/02/20015 from windows 7 ultimate 64 to windows 10 pro by ms update and I have 10.0.10240 build 10240 and I have all the updates as there is no more as I'm told its up to date when I run update so is that not the right build is there a newer one ? and I am activated if there is a newer one can I get it some how ? I just do not understand and I'm so so confused now thanks for any info
You're completely fine. If the Upgrade is running smoothly (that shall indeed happen i was told) just go on. There is no 'newer' build.
@lobo yes I have did the upgrade but I have not did the clean install yet and it is activated for the upgrade just was not sure about the clean install bit @slave yes it does seem to be running fine and smoothly so far any way but I have always hade plans of doing a clean install after the update and just wanted the newest one out thank you both for all your help
You have the newest one out, you will always have the newest one out. Worry not. If you are now activated you can do a clean install. Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC > Get Started. You will become activated again once installation finishes (remember to hit skip if asked for key). You can also do this from media, ISO, etc., once activated you will always be activated as long as you are installing the same version, regardless of language (if you have Win 10 Home your activation will carry though after a clean install of Win 10 Home and not Pro in this example).
Those of you that have activated using upgrades of a system that might have been a little shaky on it's activation, run Winver and see what it says about who holds the license.
