Guys I haven't installed any patches since like 3rd august. How safe is it to not use windows update together with the telemetry disable scripts. I feel kinda safe, the system is fast as hell. And I disabled WU completly.
You should periodically update. You CAN run without Updates, but that may make you vulnerable to malware that 99% of systems are immune to, which would suck. I ran 7 without Updates for ~1.5 years (an update was causing random system lockups while playing games, didn't know which one), and don't think I got anything, though that's coupled with an AV/going to known safe sites.
Yes but microsofts adds more and more spyware and bloatware with them updates. Aint happy with that boi. Still know what you mean.
True, but as I edited, I successfully ran 7 for over a year without updates...but who knows, maybe I was a botnet lol. If you want to avoid telemetry, I'd go back to 7/8 and avoid any telemetry-related updates. It's too easy for MS to inject telemetry updates in 10 because everything is a "Cumulative Update" that MS don't describe, and can easily put in telemetry with a cumulative update.
I do not believe their will ever be a answer to this telemetry/spyware thing, we now know why this OS was free, the data mining will be sold to corporations who will intern E-mail you offering their services which alot of people will buy, imagine what a E-mail list would sell for, yes we now know who is going to pay for this OS, and try as you might, you stop something, they just send out update with more. All the while, you are breaking the OS trying to stop this mess, all of the tools MS gives us just tries to put you system back to default settings which causes huge mess, it changes some things you have done, but if you have turned off or uninstalled things, I don't know what the answer is as MS is not going to stop, they have to have income for this OS and I simply do not know how to help people fix a OS when half of it is missing.
Wow, over a million views on this thread. I remember the first day this thread was started. There were 8 pages of replies. By the time I read those 8 pages, there were 4 more. I wonder if it will hit 1000 pages (10,000 replies). (Yeah, I know it will if idiots like me post useless drival)
This thread is dead. As a matter of fact, all Windows 10 threads that don't contain the word "spying" are dead.
"Temporary Internet Files" grow up to 1.65GB. Couple days before I deleted it. How It possible it grew up so much ?
After I delete "Temporary Internet Files" it not delete all. It remain 31.7MB. In Windows 8.1 it delete all.
Man this has been a couple of days of H___. It started upgrading RAM from 24GB to 32GB's, then my computer lost activation, I did nothing but take old RAM out put new in, strange. So I decided to put backup copy on, I did and guess what, it to was not activated, stranger. In all, I put on 10 backup copies, all unactivated, this was not strange any more, MS had put a curse on little old me, so I had 1 backup left, I held my breath, yes it was 8.1 but by this time, I did not care, finally success, if you can call it that, 8.1 installed, so from there upgrade, then clean install, then adding all those programs again, so the moral of the story is MS RULES, lol
nope the moral of the story is: read how windows 10 upgrade activation works before you change your hardware and wonder why it's not activated anymore. you did a upgrade from 8.1 to 10 i guess, so you had your activation bound to your hardware id. after changing some of your hardware (you changed your ram) your hardware id changed too. so of course you lost your activation! next time call ms phone activation or contact the support and it will work again
I did not think changing RAM would inactivate you, nor did I know that backup copies would not be activated, it seems when you lose activation, you lose it on backup copies too, so people looking to or buying software to backup your activation may be getting fleeced.
WoW I should have know this but did not, upgrading RAM, man that with all this spyware junk, I may have to go back to 7
