How to enable Windows 10 RTM (My working method): Background: I started with a license upgrade purchased at the launch of Windows 8 to 29 euro and used until Windows 8.1 Update 3 and running. The first thing I did was install Windows 8.1 Update 3 and activation with the key professional in my possession. After I connected to my Microsoft account and I launched the installation of Windows 10 as an upgrade (I was not asked to enter any product code). Finished upgrading Windows 10 resulted operated with a key retail (the same one that was put on the blacklist by microsoft). Checked it, I formatted the hard drive, I installed Windows 10 from scratch and I logged in with the key used to put on the blacklist by microsoft and voila all activated. My question to you the forum is as follows: Microsoft now to activate the license is based on an algorithm included in microsoft account? Sorry for the imperfect English. Greetings from Italy. Alessio
Has anybody set their BIOS clock ahead a year to verify that there is truly no time bomb or is everybody just depending on winver?
Not sure is old news got to run to work. I Did manage to activate using tokens from a 10166>10240 Insider Upgrade on a 10240 ESD>Iso Fresh
One question what is the differnce between 10130 and 10240 i dont see any and for that i formatted my hard drive and is virtual box finaly working on windows 10 host ?????
Yes, I've done a few. Windows 7 Pro (retail key) upgrade from setup.exe to 10240. Windows 8.1 Pro (Retail key) upgrade from setup.exe to 10240 Windows 10 10166 upgrade from Windows Update to 10240 Clean install bootable USB to home built system without slic or msdm. 3 upgrades and one clean without issues.
Everyone seems to be basing no time bomb solely on what winver shows. I've read every page of this thread and still seen no definitive answer to whether this is indeed RTM or if it's time-bombed. I don't mean what a journalist tweeted or said in an article - but something definitive and reliable from MS.
Well this is the first time I installed a build to more than one machine. Upgrades went fine from WU and Setup.exe and the clean install also without issues. I think I will plop enterprise on one here tomorrow. But yeah, seems solid to me. The Win7 upgrade actually had the Win10 reservation waiting. I just invited it earlier lol
That's what I'm seeing too....using WinVer is no proof of lack of time bomb or RTM. Microsoft won't confirm for a while yet either. Either wait and see or go ahead and assume. Up to you
I guess I will be the one to try it..at some point. Just have to make sure whatever PC i try it on I can afford to lose until I have time to go back and reinstall.
my clean install 10240 is not activated if I install 10162 then will 10162 activate if and then upgrade to 10240
