No that particular win7 machine was always win7. The only change was editions from Home Premium OEM *with slic* that it came with, I upgrade it to Win7 Pro with retail key. Its upgrade was done by decrypting the ESD, making the ISO and running setup.exe. Its never seen 10 before.
But a decrypted ESD from .. an upgraded 10 install? I'm trying to find that link as to why all are activating
because MS is allowing the activations (who knows why? its supposed to be free anyway), the encrypted ESD comes directly from MS servers, downloaded, decrypted and merely extracted to a folder and made into an ISO for installing it. ESD is an encrypted high compression file from MS used for their digital content delivery. Why they bother to encrypt is beyond me, their own moderators post images and "how too's" using our guys decrypter on MS sites.
will there ever be "final" bits..that's what we all may be missing here in this new windows as a service world. They may just throw what they have on pcs starting on the 29th and let wu fill in the blanks.
for me and many, the 29th will be "final bits" and yes of course they are not actually final and will see ridiculous amounts of updates to come lol
It is the RTM guys...on 29th this will probably be given along with release day patches View attachment 37175
Anyone know how to repair signing in with a MSA? When I try, it just closes the sign in window after I enter my credentials (Upgrade from 8.1 Pro) Run DISM and SFC, it found and fixed files, but still not working
yeah but I am starting to believe the only difference between what we have now and the 29th will be the updates we receive between now and then. The idea of a locked in steel "final" iso may be a relic from the past and that may be why Aul said a month ago or so why is everybody worried about rtm, just keep up with the releases?
hi, want to install windows 10, when i am doing this with the 10240 esd and do a clean install is it possible to update in the future like runing now windows 8.1 ? so its final version ? thanks
Clean install etc etc. This is the route I took. Originally genuine W8.0 pro en-gb 64 then 8.1 then insider preview updates via WU or via clean installs if I had issues (usually). Final route to 10240 was from a WU from 10166. Activated just fine like all previous builds did. However, I couldn't bring up Settings. It would splash and disappear. Usual fixes - restart, sfc /scannow showed errors that couldn't be fixed. Obtained a 10240 esd pro en-gb and converted to ISO and clean installed skipping any requests for a key. It was already activated and I had no issues updating via WU. Apps updated fine via the store. Via WU advanced options I did have to reselect to get insider builds. Guess that as I'd updated and activated originally to 10240 via WU that it was happy for me to clean install and retain activation, and that I used my Microsoft ID etc.
The proof i would say is. 1) They said insider is not away to get a free licence for XP, Vista users.. IT CURRENTLY IS! JUST INSTALL 10116 PREVIEW AND THEN UPGRADE THAT TO 10240 AND IT WILL BE ACTIVATED! 2) Edge still has feedback face within it. 3) The serial for each edition is generic however you install! (Even if you don't put one) I think this is a release that will be able to update via windows update and on the 29th be identical though. I just think the ISO's that come out on the 29th will include the rollup updates. How much these updates will change the system is anyone's guess.
Your proof is just speculations from some observations...whereas these 2 guys have inside sources at MS & they are still saying that 10240 IS the RTM View attachment 37176 MS said that Insiders will have activation by generic serials & that's what's happening, currently you can opt out of the Insider program & stay activated but, that can change any time as they are still preparing their activation servers for release day & the feedback options will stay even after release as 10 is still a work in progress.
