Build number can be changed by a small update? I thought the whole OS would have to be upgraded again. Tempted to put this on several laptops I'm selling but don't know what will happen if I upgrade from Win7 on these machines with a local account only. Will insider patches still be installed using a local account? Too many unknowns for now I think. Don't want to sell someone a machine with 10 that's unfinished and can't be updated.
Some are of the opinion that this is like Win 8.xx RTM There will follow a General Availability release (29th) and rollup updates for this - possibly new ISO's.
biz-wise I would wait until end of month to see what is gonna happen not to step into a trap that costs you bucks
Tough to help without you telling us what the error was or was that the entire thing, installation failed? If it was I would think it might have been a bad download.
anyone know where i can get the latest dism.exe for windows 10240 build as i wanted to inject all drivers into install.wim
Okay, so since an en-us x64 Core ESD doesn't seem to be forthcoming, is there any way to convert the currently available Pro image into Core? ei.cfg? Anything? I'd really like to upgrade my 7 install on my SSD, but it's Home Premium...
At MDL this could be considered as 'Carrying coals to Newcastle' (for the germans here: 'Eulen nach Athen' .... reminds me at Grexit).
The ESD for the Core (Home) edition is out there. I would recommend grabbing the filename from the bad link and punching it into google, you should be able to find it.
I did look somewhat at the upgrade process for 10166 & then 10240, and I think it's almost perfect now...didn't spot any overt problems. No driver problems & sfc reports all is well. I think they are definitely just about all the way home for the RTM...the big enchilada...the golden cigar in the sky...the tail of the comet...the...(well, you get it...)
MS published new adksetup.exe for 10240.16384 files. It was posted yesterday as direct link to adk files only ... search for it if needed.
Hey guys I'm really trying to read between the lines here. If I upgrade my insiders to RTM, then do a clean install, then un-join the insiders program, I'll have a activated RTM still?
Yes its already happened. What was initially 10240.16384 became "10.0.10240.16387.th1_st1.150711-1429" after a WU update. You can track further changes by looking at BuildEx under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
