So if 10240 is not signed off RTM which version are manufacturers installing on new build PCs?

I tried Rain's activator but it didn't manage to activate 10240.

Anybody knows why? Are you sre i cant just use an activation serial key instead?

It's got to be, otherwise they are cutting it far too close to the mark to get it sent out and sorted.

Could you please guide me on this?
Did i accidentally hurt the new win10 isntallation by running R@1n's RC9 activator that failed to activate it?

They had a similar issue with 8.1, remember?
They installed 8.1 without the GA patch and the ones that shipped early got the patch through Windows Update.
Later they updated the MSDN isos with a pre-integrated patch.

I have a few Vista machines running Windows 8.1 KMS activated. So it seems the best (free) way to get Win10 permanently activated is to clean install Windows 7, use Daz loader, and then upgrade to 10? (and then do a clean install preferably)

Otherwise I can upgrade Win8.1 directly but it will be locked to KMS activation, even with clean install, correct?

Apologies If this has already been asked before..but I have Windows 8.1 retail keys for both my Desktop and Laptop, should I clean install Windows 8.1 on both of them and then activating them using my keys and then install Windows 10 build 1024 (built ISO from en-gb esd file) over the top of my activated Windows 8.1 activation?

    Will I remain activated?

(Im currently running Windows 10 build 1024 on both of them - upgraded using WU on the previous Windows 10 build)

    Thanks in advance

    Heres my take.

Its "rtm" to oem partners but its not really rtm to Microsoft. There isn't any new builds from now on. So this build TH1 will be updated right up till july 29th with critical updates and patches because windows is now a service and will always be updated. So "rtm" is really a dead concept. Its kinda interesting.

Simple question, I thought the automatic/forced windows updates wont be present as such on the enterprise edition but it is, same as the pro, same as the older builds... do you guys see the same? or maybe because its not the per sa RTM (240)... just wondering..
