Do you think that normal consumers on 10240 RTM (non-LTSB) will be updated via Windows Update to 10586 via a normal MSU/similar update, or will they have to make a full ESD upgrade even though they are not insiders? If they get it via a normal non-ESD update, do you think it's possible that LTSB will also be updated to 10586? WU has been considered 'Current Branch' while LTSB lets you disable it and manually control updates via WSUS. I wonder if it's possible that LTSB will get 10586 along with everyone else, and it simply won't have the new features that relate to Cortana/Edge/Store and such.
Again, the whole point of LTSB was so that it WOULDN'T do this. If you want a version that stays updated, just remove the store apps from normal Enterprise.
Hello to everybody, Maybe it is stupid question, I think that you are all pros, but... I have installed Build 10547 how can I update to Build 10586?
There are some differences, but mostly I recommend against it because of the way MS would try to service it. Think about it. It checks for updates assuming it's LTSB. You're welcome to try it, but I doubt you'd be happy with the result. It would be much easier to remove-provisionedappxpackage all of the apps you want to remove from Enterprise. At least that way it wouldn't have a conniption when you try to update it.
Well, we're not 100% sure yet if it's the RTM build or not. But since it does have the new License Agreements and removed watermark, it "should" be the RTM version. Microsoft already sent out the RTM Build of Windows 10 (10240) few weeks earlier to Windows Insiders.
The thing about LTSB is that it's great for anal retentive admins to play God but said admin will not actually be running it on his machine.
You have to be joined in the insider program while logged into MSA that has opted into the program for at least a day. Go into settings-Updates-Advanced, go thru the insider steps...
Skype Messages & Video apps still the same as couple of builds ago or did they updated them in this last build?
They dropped the "logged in" requirement for me a couple builds back. Someone else here noticed that, too. Not sure if it was intentional, but I'm not complaining. On another subject, would anyone be surprised if this was the last build for a good two months? With the holidays forming a natural break between TH2 and Redstone, I think it's more likely than not.
