Mmm I had pro before... And in case of a clean install ? There must be a way to force which one you want i guess
It's because the mediacreation tool downloads the esd's and converts them to iso so they will not have the same SHA-1 hash as the MSDN iso's. The mediacreationtools iso's will have install.wim inside a single platform iso (x86 Or x64) and install.esd inside the multiplatform iso (x86 And x64 iso's).
The Iso from the Media Creation Tool does in fact contain Home and Pro versions BUT If a fresh install from boot detects a qualified firmware key for Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 it will automatically use it and install the version that the key comes from without asking. In most cases that will be Home. I do not know if there is any way to circumvent that process with "Genuine" install media.
BADLY NEED HELP with 10586 Update! PLEASE! Something is REALLY freaking wrong with my OS! I ran DISM RestoreHealth and SFC Scannow and Chkdsk and it found some minor issues and said it fixes them all. I do NOT have any actual OS functions problems as of right now, ASIDE from freaking 10586 Update NOT getting downloaded or installed!!!! I cleaned up my OS and have 7GB of space left on my Drive C. There is nothing else I can move to get me more space (pagefile already disabled). I start download of 10586 Update and it seems like it downloads the whole thing, then tries to install, and then tells me there are ISSUES, so I press FIX ISSUES, and it doesn't work, leaving me with RETRY option, which is RETARDED because it erases the 2.6GB download and RESTARTS damn download! So I tried using Portable Update, which was downloading the damn update to its own Cache folder, so I thought I could go take a shower, while it downloads, and come out when its done. I ASSUMED it would KEEP the damn 2.6GB download file in its Cache, but it did not. I came back and once again - 2.6GB download is GONE and the update is NOT installed. WTF IS THIS? Why is there no freaking Stand-Alone 10586 MSI or EXE or some file that I can download and KEEP and NOT fraking re-download it 50 times?!?!?! I am literally going MAD because of this crap and the fact that nobody even knows what the problem is! Could someone at least tell me how to KEEP THE UPDATE FILE or WHERE TO GET THE UPDATE? How do I make it install????
so its required you enter a key to get pro version? in that case, using pro key from different pc will work on current pc previously had home? there is no option to select home/pro huh?
SO why the hell is Windows trying to download a 2.6GB 10586 Update?!?!?!!? Is it the same thing as ISO or what? How much space does it need to work?!
You need more than 7GB of free space to update. Upgrading to 10586 created a 10GB backup folder containing system files from the previous build on my HDD.
You could transform ESD to ISO,there's a thread with links and do a clean install not sure if it allows you to update aswell without ressetting everything
FFS - how are people supposed to know that? Its a 2.6GB download from Windows Update! Do I need to have 10GB worth of free space if I upgrade from ISO also? What kind of crap is that anyway! Where is a good download link for Windows 10 Pro x64 (Retail) ???
In fact you would need more than 10, consider where you mount the ISO, you also need the swapfile, which if set by the system it would be around 4GB (depending on how much memory you have, the more memory the less the swapfile). you also need space for the files to be expanded on, before being written to the appropriate location..
SO you're saying there is no freaking way I can update my OS then? The only other thing I can do is try to move the Hibernation file, but that's it! What kind of CRAP update is this anyway? Windows Update NEVER required that much space before.
