installed vclibs and now snipping tool works, but the clipboard history just appears a blank window for 1 second and disappears
I have noticed some performance issues on LTSC 2021, when I move around "cpu-z" window it moves with delay, like in heavy slow motion, cpu usage jums up to 30% when im doing it (desktop window manager process). It happens only with cpu-z window for some reason. Also spotted performance loss in an old online MMORPG game, fps drops literally every 5-10 seconds, movement of the characters feels slow. Tried different drivers and some windows tweaks but nothing really helped. I dont have those issues on 2016/2019 LTSC builds...
Ok, im so happy. If you want the clipboard history + snipping tool on shortcut just install vclibs (from ltsc store for example) and everything works, check for regedit or gpo settings that might affect the functionality. It's located on admin templates - system - Os Policies. Regedit it's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cbdhsvc for the service, \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System AllowClipboardHistory set to 1 for the functionality.
Anyone else having problem with Japanese IME on the new LTSC? There's no candidate window and when I tab-complete it doesn't convert to kanji. Old LTSC (or any other versions of W10 for that matter) didn't give me any problem.
Spent most of the time since release testing LTSC in Virtual Machines... some observations: Its a shame (but probably unavoidable) since this already has LCU/Servicing stack applied, you are stuck with: Package_for_ServicingStack~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~19041.1220.1.0 However, the LCU does not appear to be completely committed so it can/will be removed if you cleanup the image after applying the current LCU. WinRE has Servicing Stack + SafeOS dynamic update that cannot be removed, so you end up with latest SSU + KB5006748 on top of it. Older (1809) autounattend.xml files will not work in some cases... FaxServicesClientPackage is no longer in the foundation package, and if you happen to remove the Internet Explorer capability then specifying Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64 removal from foundation package will result in the installer failing with an error. The appx version of Visual C++ libraries are missing, which causes various components to exhibit unexpected behavior. I can't for the life of me find a way to cleanly remove Microsoft Edge from the image... it is not a provisioned package until after servicing or OOBE pass... removing it with the "Uninstall" option will remove most of the binaries / Edge Update but it will always show up "App history", and there is a 2nd package that is part of C:\Windows\SystemApps. As a side note, it seems like the appx packages in the 21H2 images are not from the more recent Inbox Apps ISO, but rather the original Windows 10 version 2004? *Edit* Also the ISO image appears to already have Dynamic Setup KB5005714 applied
Which other libraries packages do you suggest to have to? Is there a list of useful packages with the right name to download from that site? Are these the same you download from MS? (VCRedist 2019, for example)
Anyone use Nord VPN desktop app in Win LTSC 2021? Boot - app starts - connects, a minute or so and internet connection drops. Exit Nord, restart it - all is well. Anyone else?
Hello family, I am asking again as my question got buried by others. Here goes: Hopefully someone here is able to help me out. I was running LTSC 2019 1809 and mounted the LTSC 2021 ISO an ran the Setup. To my suprise everything went smoothly and afer some reboots I was back in Windows. I checked all Settings and decided to run Windows Updates to finally turn them off for now when I'm up to date. Some dotNet and 21H2 Cumulative Update promted me reboot. Sadly the PC wouldn't reboot. Automatic repair did nothing. Uninstalling previously installed updates told me some Windows Update operations are pending and I should try to use Startup repair. Startup repair failed I checked the System Restore points and only one point was there from hours ago tho not the one I created right before mounting the LTSC 2021 ISO. Checking which programs would be changed gave me an error so I decided to try some reboots again... Now I tried Safe Mode with Networking and Windows told me something went wrong with the Updates and it is rolling back the changes and cleaning up. After that I was back in Windows and tried the Updates again. Then the same happenend tho this time booting into Safe Mode with Networking did not work the first time like before and booted straight to normal mode after rolling back the f**kied up updates. This time I had to restart again and try Safe Mode with Networking again. Now I am in Safe Mode and am writing this. I hope someone will be able to help me out <3 First thing after restarting I guess I will disable Winupdate service Looking forward to all your experience! Many thanks in advance! /edit: Rebooting from Safe Mode just brings me back to the black screens. Really seems like some Windows Update destroyed my bootloader >_< Hopefully someone here will guide me through this the easiest and fastest way. Will try go get to Windows and check here again from Safe Mode. Thx again in advance!! //edit: Now I am back in Windows without Safe Mode. Tho am back on 1809... I tried Safe Mode with Networking again and it worked so I rebooted hoping I would be brought back to normal Windows. Sadly I was only greeted by those five dots which then left me with a black display and soon my displays went so power saving mode... Then I tried the Startup repair again which again was not working. I tried the remove previous updates and the second option (not sure what it is exactly called, guess feature updates or smth) and now I am back on 1809. Now I will first update 1809 with Windows Updates and then reboot and then check if Windows thinks I am up to date and then I will upgrade to LTSC 2021 again by mounting the ISO. So strange. after being back in 1809 even my folders were here right where I left them open... Hope this odyssey is coming to an end soon. Am having problems with this Windows Update for almost 1.5hrs tho am glad I am back to 1809 instead of the black screens for now XDD <3 edit: Okay I now tried the following: This time I opted to let the Win10 Installer search for Updates etc. The installation was slower than before and after the second reboot I had these blackscreen problems again. This time I did not even have to got to Safe Mode etc... After trying three or four times the PC said it is undoing what has been doen to the PC and now I am back with LTSC 2019 1809 and was promted with a error msg. : '0xC1900101 - 0x40017 The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation' Hopefully anybody is able to help me. Would not want to install from scratch having to meticulously set everything up... Many many thx in advance!!! <3
That's a wall of text! Yes this thread is naturally moving very fast atm. I did the same procedure, extracted ISO, ran setup = perfect, no problems since. Also removed Windows.old - but it's no problem if it did go pear shaped as I use disk imaging and have clean backups of boot drive. Only thing irritating is as posted with Nord client, but that's nowt to do with upgrade which went fine here.
I just tested it, although I'm still testing the OS on a virtual machine, and I didn't experience this problem.
