I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but that's not how "support" works. Your computer will run the operating system just fine without downloading any Windows Updates at all. It just won't be very protected from malware if you have a habit of clicking on things you shouldn't.
I could be out of the loop but I don't recall a situation of an updated ADK for the same build. I've kinda avoided the other non-ltsb/c builds, but I believe as long as the ADK is based on the same build (like 19044 or whatever) it should be applicable. Now here's the problem. These isos have cumulative patches installed. That means that any PE package you integrate will then have to run another integrate pass with the same or later CU to fix any bugs that might pop up. The same goes with language packs and features on demand.
To those who have installed LTSC 2021, is the “Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling” option available? thanks!
Guidance about Post-installation work Downloaded and installed en-us_windows_10_iot_enterprise_ltsc_2021_x64_dvd_257ad90f. Activated with winactivate. All went smoothly. Updates were also installed up to KB5007186. I like to know from more knowledgeable members about what more post-installation work is necessary: 1. Should one sign in to a Microsoft account with a school - like account as suggested by BAJ to stop telemetry? Or disable telemetry by other means? 2. Should Microsoft Edge be removed by abbodi's script? 3. Should one install an antivirus like Kaspersky (very intrusive) or Windows Defender is sufficient? 4. Any other suggestion like installing Office 2021 ? I like to thank all who work relentlessly for us. What a wonderful forum is this!
If you are not using a legit activation source (I.E. your own legitimately purchased key or free upgrade) you should never log into a MS account. Since LTSC/B doesn't come with store installed, you don't really have a need to log into a MS account. It's also very unlikely you have a legitimately purchased copy of LTSC as I don't think I've EVER seen it for sale online or anywhere else. It seems very much to be a business only sku.
I have installed the normal version of LTSC 2021. When I go to choose a default browser, there is two Microsoft Edge. One with the logo and one without a logo. Why is that?
yes, UWP apps will update on LTSC automatically, without the store installed. I have seen that happen on my installations, you will have entries in the event viewer when an app gets updated. -andy-
Yes but updates are important, otherwise you wouldn't have integrated them into all of your ISOs over the years. And if we have a current long term support version then you can have support for our older hardware as well. I would think that an OS Guru like yourself would realize this.
1. That is applicable to windows 10 education version only(which I use btw & found it good enough). You can disable(but not completely) the telemetry by following the usual available group policy method on LTSC. 2. Just let it sit there in my opinion, you will be saving a couple of 100 MB at most by removing it completely. 3. Windows defender on latest win 10 versions is sufficient provided the pc has good net connectivity most of the time(for downloading latest updates) & you don't click on dangerous links/browse shady sites often. 4. Some reported here office 2021 working fine on LTSC 2021 so your choice.
Setting aside the usual sequential speeds, does this also give big boost to random 4k single thread read write speeds for typical OS operations.
I'm not entirely sure on this... LTSC wouldn't have any UWP apps to update to start with out of the box (minus the core stuff included in Windows), but my testing in a virtual machine seems to indicate that if I side-load apps with DISM, they will not get updated. If I then side-load the Store and then launch it, it will start updating those same apps.
Are they really? Do you know what they do? They are merely code updates to fix security holes. Often those security holes they themselves find with their team. I know better than anyone why I made my integration releases with the updates included and it was more to satisfy my feelings than to actually solve any real problem. I think my Win7sp1 release with USB3 drivers integrated solved more problems than all of the windows updates combined.
