Ohh, thanks for explanation. I used NVCleaninstall so that could be the cause of that missing..? However, what does it do exactly? Is it needed?
I was hoping microsoft made an effort to fix System Restore for LTSC 2021 release... but nope. It is broken - ssd killer trashing of storage for no apparent reason, a task that should only take couple of seconds, goes on and on for close to one hour mark. It will eventually complete so do not force reboot as it might make things worse.
what do you recommend? should we disable the service then? is there a workaround? last time i heard something like this, was when ssds where fresh on the market and people were scared that something could break. but if you say it, something has to be wrong and i don't want my ssd to be trashed just because of a system restore, which i probably never need anyway.
I'd disable it for good. If you really need a system restore use an imaging software or Shadow Defender.
You don't have to do anything because microsoft have disabled system restore by default, if you need to use it, it must be enabled manually It's a real shame that windows has given up on such a built in reliability tool, forcing you to buy commercial software for imaging. The unofficial reason is that ransomware and malware is to blame, not that they are lazy / incompetent to make vss more robust. Or maybe the original developer of that area has left or was fired, and the new blood cant fix it or focus on emoji instead.
Hmm for these and other reasons is that I returned to the old LTSC 2019 and free go M$FT Edge too ...
alright thanks guys, just as i thought. just checked and it was on, must have enabled it then while setting up everything. aaaand it's disabled now.
Yes. Just open a PowerShell window on the folder with the files and type Add-AppxPackage ./filename.appx
That's a shame, since LTSC 2021 did raise the bar on everything. You only had some inconveniences caused by drivers from what I glimpsed, and I bet you could have eventually fixed those. But it's not a crime either to stay a bit longer on the old one, and wait for some refresh along the way (there are gonna be plenty of those with LTSC 2021).
