    buggy
not for everyone and every setup but ya.

almost every win10 release need some additional CUs after initial release to be considered as stable (something like 4 months after)

I can agree that Microsoft does not need to push out a new version for the retail channel every six months.

Can someone confirm that LTSC/LTSB are only really supported for 5 years, not 10? I've read that you need to have a Software Assurane to receive updates past 5 year mark.

What's unclear. The 5 years extended support will deliver security fixes. Iirc the mainstream support time can be extended via Software Assurance.

Well I don't know for a fact I have to have the latest release, but generally with new hardware you need new versions of an OS to support stuff out of the box. Would rather not jump through a bunch of hoops to try and get stuff working on an older version. This laptop I'm using is really fresh off the press, specifically an Aspire A717-72G. I normally prefer using older hardware and an older OS release for the reliability that comes with maturity, but I went for the latest hardware this time, might as well go with the latest OS too. It's going pretty good, other than some minor issues all is working well.

Definitely agree on that, there is *a lot* of junk even in LTSC. Does take some tweaking to get things out of there, though it is possible so that's one consolation. The retail version is piled with junk on top of junk, it's untenable. I started with the retail version of Pro on my new machine and it was overwhelming to deal with. That's when I looked into LTSC and found I could actually use it. I'll take 1809 LTSC gladly, warts and all.

Yep. The 2016 LTSB is the best version. Even the 2019 LTSC has some crapware like Paint 3D.

    Thanks for your response.
I´ll wait until those minor issues are fixed and then leap to the newer version.

 people installed 2015 LTSB, they upgrade to 2016 LTSB because 2015 was really buggy, but all for one reason, it didn't get forced upgrades on WU, side plus effect was, for some, no UWP apps.

But now, everyone who specifically installed 2016 LTSB, installs 2019 LTSC, because of the new features:D:D

Yeah I'd much rather be using this release with about six months mileage on it, but I'll have to be a loss leader on this one.

Damm 2019 LTSC sucks. Now I have to reinstall LTSB 2016, is there a easy way to get all necessary updates, because windows update have a lot of problems?

Can you say why it sucks? What does not work well for you?

One general comment if that's okay, I was actually on Win7 with older hardware before I got this new machine so I'm just getting fully up to speed with Win10. The six month release thing on the retail channel seems crazy to me, how can they ever get anything worked out in six months. Win7 has had ten years to get things smoothed out. I have to wonder what the hell they're thinking. Fortunately corporate customers pressured them into doing things the old way with LTSC's three year release cycle. I know LTSC is like ms's red-headed step child, but good for me. You corporate customers keep the pressure on them.
