    HI
I search a way to pay for ESU win10 in a way that do not give MS my name credit card adress or personal data etc.

Have any of you tried paying the ESU with prepaid credit card (visa mastercard we see at wallmart or such. Or with gift card of some sort?

-The reward points seems like lot of time and trouble plus they reward less than before and clock is ticking.
-The back up options is unclear to my what is backed up and how that affects data that they get and that we dont -want them to get.
-Does paying ESU with paypal works and how much safer is it compared to paying with our normal credit card?
    Thanks

    HI
Lots of questions in my head ...
i run a local account that is licence activated but not linked to a MS account.
I do have a MS account with some txt from hotmail on one drive already.
I dont sync stuff and i dont trust how MS use our data.

1So the back up option, how bad is it ? I almost want conspirationist to answer my question because like fb trials have show MS do stuff we dont want with the data they collect.

2So what info is backed up . I dont know what ai means by sharing credentials.

3 which is worst paying with regular credit card or taking the back up way?

4 syncing personalization, accessibility, and other settings to your Microsoft account. What does it mean? how can that lead to negative consequences like leaks , data collection and things i am not aware of ?

    thanks!!

back up your PC settings to the Microsoft cloud via the Windows Backup (formerly Sync Your Settings) feature, which enrolls your device in the free ESU program. This backup option is available through the ESU enrollment wizard, which you can find in notifications or the Settings app on a Windows 10 PC running version 22H2, and it provides a way to get free ESUs by syncing personalization, accessibility, and other settings to your Microsoft account.
Steps to Enroll via PC Settings Backup
    1. Log in with a Microsoft Account:
Ensure your Windows 10 PC is logged in with a Microsoft account and running Windows 10, version 22H2.
    2. Find the Enrollment Wizard:
Look for the enrollment wizard in Windows 10 notifications or by navigating to Settings.
    3. Select the Backup Option:
When the ESU enrollment wizard appears, choose the option to "Use Windows Backup to sync your settings to the cloud".
    4. Turn on Sync Settings:
If prompted, turn on the Windows Backup feature to sync your settings to the cloud.
    5. Complete Enrollment:
Follow the on-screen steps to complete the enrollment process.
    What Gets Backed Up
    • Personalization settings (desktop background, colors, taskbar, themes)
    • Accessibility settings (text size, mouse pointer, screen magnifier)
    • Accounts and Wi-Fi networks/passwords
    • Language preferences and other Windows settings
    • List of installed apps

Simply do a search for "Massgrave dev"
They don't need credit card, nor any money

HI for now I would prefer a way that is legal . Ai says the script is ok but using it is not kind of answer . could lead to problems like not having the esu in x months.

Prepaid credit card would be much safer and quick way , IF it is possible. I imagine some of your have tried it .

    Thanks

Hello Dark Vador, could you clarify if by free you mean the scrip is free (which seems to be) or that people who use the script get the ESU for free( without having to pay nor using the back up nor reward points options to receive the ESU).

If using the script leads to receiving the esu without using the 3 options, how can it be legal since MS does not receive what they ask in exchange ? Aren't people scared that the ESU would stop (using the script way)coming at one point or worst get a fine of locked up pc of licence cancelation?

When I ask AI (even if it is not always right) it show me this text
    AI Overview

Using scripts from abbodi1406 for Windows Extended Security Updates (ESU) is not a legal way to obtain software or licenses
. It is considered a workaround for paying for a legitimate license from Microsoft, and while it may work, it does not provide a genuine, legal license.
Here's a breakdown of what that means for users:
    • Violates Microsoft's Terms of Service. The abbodi1406 script, and other tools like it, are unofficial methods for activating software. This is a direct violation of Microsoft's licensing agreements, which require users to purchase a legitimate license for the ESU program.
    • Security risks. The legitimacy of the updates received via this method is unverified. While the script's code can be inspected, using unofficial tools for system-critical components like security updates carries a degree of risk. By circumventing official channels, you may expose your system to potential security vulnerabilities.
    • No guarantee of support. Microsoft offers no support for machines receiving updates through unauthorized means. In the event of a problem, you would not be able to get assistance from official support channels.
    • Potentially unreliable. The script has been known to encounter issues, and its effectiveness may vary. A legitimate ESU license, however, ensures a reliable process for receiving updates.
How risky is it to use the script for the future? Also why are people using it , is it to avoid paying 60 dollar or because the security-or other risks are higher than using the script? It could make sense , i just need to be informed of the risks to be able to weight them and choose according to what I am willing to risk.

Could you or any other generous person explain me those questions I come with ?
    Thanks

i would agree, if you ware talking about MASS, who change the trusted store :D
but this script who use same API / Interface, [ who got by reverse engineer, found by abbodi1406 ]
its kind of grey area, so you don't use their tool. but it same API/INTERFACE calls.

Ok so I guess the big questions becomes can MS detect people who have used the script to get the ESU or are there any difference to be aware for the futur if one takes this path?
    Thanks

You seem to be under the impression that the ESU updates itself are booby-trapped. That's wrong, once the updates are on the machine, no further checks are done.

    @Enthousiast

I did search for the "euroconsumers" string before posting, but somehow XenForo's internal search failed to come up with anything fruitful back then.

Be that as it may, a forum is made of its users and their contributions, not the other way around. If you see something's out of order, kindly use the report button. Collective decrapification can do wonders, isn't it?

This is not limited to XenForo, unfortunately. phpBB's search is just as bad. For example, short words are not indexed at all, like ESU.

There was more going on at the time, and other stuff, not feeling represented from time to time.

Lately i get the idea that all energy and time i put in is a bit useless, everyting is repeated multiple times, categorically ignored and so on...
