Is anyone finding that Cortana is effectively dead after .10? I'm seeing some chatter about it from several sources, and it's happened here, too, with Enterprise.
Using it here on my laptop and I'm quite happy with it. Really stable and "crApp" free. I use Pro on my home desktop though.
I just mean that it no longer responds to voice commands (Internet searches). Also, when you click into it manually, there's not even the little microphone there anymore, which you could use to talk to it if you didn't want to do "Hey Cortana." It seems to be only useful for local, typed searches now (some people might consider that a feature).
I heard that Cortana is disabled by default and cannot be enabled with the AU update for the new Windows Pro Education as well as Windows Education. I don't know if this is applicable to Enterprise version.
She seems fine to me. Even the microphone button still works. I wonder if this is some sort of conditional bug. That would be quite unfortunate for Microsoft to run into on the eve of release.
Please Help. Can't upgrade from 10586 to 14393 Hi Friends, I finally managed to upgrade my Windows 10 build 10586 to 14393 using a Windows 10 Pro ISO which I made using the ESD files provided. After the first reboot and waiting some minutes, I decided to force reboot the machine because it almost past about 30 minutes and nothing happened. Windows 10 10586 came... Windows 10 Setup We couldn’t install Windows 10 We’ve set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10. 0xC1900101 - 0x30018 The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP operation. Well, I tried everything possible. E.G. Disabling/disconnecting/removing non-essential software/hardware/drivers during upgrade.. Nothing success. I generally do not have any software problem because I know how to manage and use my PC effectively and efficiently. So any good suggestion? Sure I can go with a clean install, but I want to try getting my current Windows upgraded if possible. Thanks so much. Good luck to all MDL members!
I managed to upgrade windows 10 TH2 10586.494 using the released ISO 14393.0. The upgrade went flawlessly and (Winver) reported build "14393.0", it then downloaded and installed "Cumulative Update (KB3176929)" after which it reported "14393.10". Having performed a hard disk clean up, I seem to end up with more hard disk space than with TH2!!!
