I would urge him to wait and make sure it's actually not valid instead of just the activation servers being overloaded right now. But if it still doesn't list it as activated, he likely changed some hardware or bios settings such as disabling built-in lan or something. If that's the case and he can't figure it out, it might be the only way to get it back to genuine status.
I just did a clean install of 14393 Pro, and it will not active: error 0x89E105DC Last year I did an upgrade from W7 Pro, and then a clean install (several times) and they all activated just fine. I did change graphics card last week, but my activated W10 stayed activated afterwards. I did install the intel chipset drivers after the clean install (offline until I had drivers installed) this time though, which I did not do in the past.
I believe digital entitlements are VERY picky about clean installs where you can't change anything. But after you're installed, it will let you change minor things like gfx card. Also in 14393 they added the ability to tie activation to your MS account, so people should do that to prevent future issues.
10586 still allowed the upgrade to enterprise, so that's possible. I haven't heard of people doing this, but I know 14393 doesn't allow upgrade to enterprise.
I'm pretty sure this is not the case. I have the exact same problem and I was running the same build, only through Windows Insider Fast Ring. I have just formatted using the correct ISO. I haven't changed any hardware at all and it still won't let me activate.
Well, give it a day or so... If it still doesn't work, MS might have turned off the ability to clean install. I doubt it because I just clean installed the other day and it's activated, but you never know.
It does, done it a several times. And I just posted that MTK "may" (I know nothing about it) be suffering the same glitch as abbodi ironed out in KMS VL All - don't know though. Follow from this post to see abbodi's explanation and how he changed KMS VL All.
I found the appx file for Microsoft Edge, which got me thinking... why isn't Microsoft Edge on the windows store? Besides, it would be an advantage if it was on the windows store, because it could be updated via the Windows Store
Yes, Pro and Enterprise can be activated with three editions keys: Ent/Pro/Pro Edu Pro for Education is a downlevel edition of Pro Education edition is separate and don't have this
Oh, interesting. Perhaps they left the in place upgrade intact but disabled the dism version. I may be mistaken then. Apologies.
