    Ok. Then go to your Device Manager and uninstall the network adapter drivers(without selecting uninstall little box) and click on 'scan for hardware'.

    if I remove the driver, then I can't install because the updates are disabled.

    can I disable in group policy?

    When you click on scan for hardware at the top of the device manager it will reinstall them back. The only hurdle here is to re-enter your WiFi code.

    when pressed there is no response.
    the button is lit, but Airplane mode doesn't work.

    this does not apply to my problem.
    driver update will not solve the problem.

    that does not mean other people are having issues. like i said back up before u update.
