There's a lot of content on this thread, so I'm sorry if I missed it, but has anybody found a solution for the USB (driver) problems, supposedly specific to the Anniversary edition?

I've had major problems with it. I did a clean install, maybe that's the difference, but all the backups I made are on external hard drives that my PC cannot get to now
